Oh no! 😯 The display of my Z16 AMD just went dark and the laptop put out a "Musical Tone" to tell my that the integrated graphics are defective and that my motherboard needs to be replaced. 🫢 I did an emergency hole reset and tried booting from USB, but unfortunately the problem persisted. I've already contacted Lenovo about the issue and hope to be back up and running in no time. 🙏

@graves501 Thanks for asking. I thought about posting an update earlier. 🫣 A very friendly DHL guy showed up the day after and picked up the laptop. No receipt, just trust. My ticket was not updated for 6d, so I asked for an update. Lenovo replied that I should contact the newly assigned service center, but did not provide contact details. So I asked for them, but haven't heard back since (because it's the weekend, I guess). All in all, their service has room for improvement, I'd say. 😝

@graves501 This morning, Lenovo Thailand called me to confirm the receipt of my laptop and to inform me that a technician will be working on the machine later today. In the meantime, I received an SMS with a link to a repair status tracker. Currently it says "repair in progress". 🙏

@amadeus Finally some progress! Seems like it almost takes as long as getting a faulty monitor replaced - it took a solid month until I received the replacement and quite a few emails and phone calls. So I hope the waiting time doesn't bother/annoy you too much :)

@graves501 Thank you! 🙏♥️ It really does take way too long, doesn't it? 😅 But in the situation I'm in right now in my life (still recovering), it's not such a big deal. I take the time to paint my speakers and sub, renovate my studio desk, go to Thai language school on weekdays, work on the house and garden, plan my professional comeback - all in close and fun cooperation with my wife. 😜😇 So, all good. 😊 But yeah, if I had to depend on it, it could be a different story, I guess.

@graves501 Now the ticket says "WO On Hold" (I guess that translates to "Work Order On Hold") and I can't comment on it anymore. 😮‍💨 I tried to reach someone via the countless phone numbers I have accumulated by now, but ended up escalating the ticket a second time. 🤔😏

@graves501 Today my laptop's ticket status changed from "WO on hold" back to "in repair". I called Lenovo a bunch of times in the meantime and for a while it seemed like my laptop could not be even located anymore. 😳 I hope everything is on track now and to have it back soon. 🙏

@graves501 All and work aside, I can't help but admit that I never want to own a laptop again. The is truly . My computer has been at Lenovo Thailand for over 40 days and the status has just gone back to on hold and they can't tell me anything over the phone other than that they expect to update me on what's going on in January. 🙏

I can understand your frustration. 40+ days is just way too long. However: I truly don't think the support for any other company other than Apple (which is paid support) is much better.

Dell also has a paid support option.

IMHO Dell, Lenovo and ASUS work perfectly fine with . Acer has terrible quality and HP causes a lot of issues with Linux in my experience.

Regarding - at least the Thinkpad series is very reliable. Very sturdy.

I'm sorry for the situation!

@graves501 Thanks for your reply, buddy! 🙌 The worst thing for me is not the 40 days, but that the updates are either non-existent or incomprehensible. For a while my laptop was even untraceable despite the ticket history. Still, I have to agree with you. I also believe that support wouldn't be any better elsewhere (except maybe with Apple). Otherwise, the Z16 with Linux is a dream for me. , , , all , great build. 🫶

@graves501 Unfortunately, the Z series laptops don't seem to be the most reliable Lenovo has to offer. I love mine though. 4k, OLED, touch, all AMD, aluminum chassis, big precise touchpad, Linux certification, decent non-standard layout keyboard, 3 Type-C ports, worldwide support network. I will keep you posted on my support experience. So far the diagnosis, account creation, product registration and ticket submission were all pretty straight forward. 🙏

@solidtrax @graves501 I just received a notice from Lenovo. They are asking me to bring the laptop to the nearest service center for on-site analysis. AFAIK the nearest service center from my location is about 100km away. I was hoping that I could send it to them. Let's see. 🙏

@graves501 @solidtrax Unfortunately, it seems to be getting more complicated than I expected. Lenovo insisted that I contact a local service center. I emailed them with all the details but did not receive a reply within 2 days. I then called them but they did not speak English. At least I got a reply to my email after the call stating that someone will look into my case next week. 🤔 I was expecting things to move faster and to feel more confident about the process. Positive thinking, I guess. 🙏

  1. Service center gives me new phone number, I call. 2. Information system refers me to WhatsApp support as only option. 3. Register with WhatsApp, receive message: Need to communicate with support in Line. 4. Register with Line, receive information: Need to request call back. 5. While trying to do so: laptop is not eligible for call back. 🙃 6. Back to service center. 7. Positive thinking. 😇

I am repurposing all the packaging material though which is why I am super slow. 🫣😅 But I enjoy every moment of it! 😇 Lenovo Thailand just called me.
