Has anyone here ever brewed with Crystal hops? If so, what do you think of them?
I’m looking for a US equivalent of the Hallertau Mittelfrueh for my Altbiers.
A sneaker taste (and demonstration of impatience).
I couldn't resist having an early taste of the Altbier I bottled a week ago. There's a little extra harsh bitterness with a very slight metallic-like taste at the end. I am hoping this mellows out after I give it a chance to age properly. Also, I'm hoping a little more toffee/caramel will come through with time.
In Charlie Papazian's The Complete Joy of Home Brewing, he describes an Irish beer style, "Foreign (Export) Stout," with an ABV range of 5.7 to 9.3%. I'm used to seeing regular dry stouts (3.5 to 5% ABV) and imperial stouts (9 to 12% ABV) but not much in between. Are there any commercially-brewed "Foreign (Export) Stout"-style beers that are available in the western part of the USA? I'd like to try one and see if this might be the next style of beer I brew.
Continuing my exploration of store brand/generic Lagers in #Finland, Coop Lager (4.2%, "Blond" #Lager) brewed by Sinebrychoff Oy Ab for S-kaupat. Ingredients: Water, hops, and barley malt of which at least 75% originates from Finland. Costs 1,02€ for a 330ml can. Best by Feb 23, 2025. Would buy again. #beer#olut#öl
Ist es Naivität oder einfach Dummheit? Das war doch sofort nach Bekanntgabe des Veranstaltungsorts klar.
