I had my lunch in the park. I walk by a children’s playground where a kid was experiencing the absolute peak of life that being a small child has to offer: swinging very high on a swing. Just squealing delight
I just went out to get my kid off the bus. It's cold outside, so I put on a gray pea coat over my T-shirt and blue plaid flannel pajama pants. It's snowing, so I added a black wool Stetson. Then the bus was late (probably due to the 2" of snow on the ground), so I pulled on some tan leather lined work gloves and shoveled the walk.
Fortunately it was my younger who was getting off the bus, and she is rather a sartorial free spirit. My older would have been mortified. #DadLife
This weekend, take the time to be with your 👪 and loved ones. Strengthen your relationships and create lasting memories together. Our families are why we work hard and strive for success 💪, so let's cherish our moments with them. #Family#DadLife ❤️
Hey anybody on the Fediverse got experience with the #pokemontcg ? I got the My First Battle box for my 5 year old and he loves it. We played for two hours and he wanted to play more today. He rarely does anything longer than an hour before wanting to move on.
Question I have is where I should go from there? He’s fairly good a remembering details and rules but I don’t want to start dropping a bunch of rules on him right now away. I can see the starter decks get tired after a bit though so I am wondering what’s the best slow growth path for him?
I also want to try to stave off the addiction that is opening boosters. I know it’s a feature of TCG but I also know how easy it is to fall into the hole of MORE and I’m trying to teach him consuming with purpose, not just getting stuff to have more stuff you know? So things that provide the most bang for your dollar would be best.
When my oldest was about 3 or 4 years old, she was hanging out with me at my work desk. I saw a pop-up on my computer that said "USB device not recognized," and I looked down and saw her with a USB cord in her mouth.
"It's SPICY!" she said, and kept touching it w/ her tongue.
Well that’s a significant parenting achievement unlocked: little miss 5 cooked us all dinner tonight!
Crumbed chicken tender wraps. She put the frozen chicken tenders into the pre-heated and hot air-fryer basket, put the lettuce, tomato, cheese, and mayo on the wraps, and put the cooked chicken on them too. So proud of her, and she’s so proud of herself too.
Solidarity to all the parents whose first kid is starting school over the next/last week or two. Little miss 5 is starting prep tomorrow, and there’s a real excited/nervous energy in the house this afternoon. #DadLife
Hi, I'm Rafe! That's pronounced "Rayf" and I am just some dude from #OgdenUtah.
I would describe myself as an awkward #introvert with a tendency to come across as the opposite until a conversation starts and I forget how human interactions are supposed to work. There's also the #ADHD factor where my brain loves to just go AWOL in the middle of things.
⚠️ There are very infrequent posts about politics & religion from my #progressive#atheist#American viewpoint. I try to avoid it but sometimes things must be said. On the rare occasions that I do post about those or any other serious, controversial topics, I do my best to keep it civil and always put it behind a content warning.
I am now officially the father of a teenager as of today ..13 years old ..,...I never thought I would see a day like this ...let alone announce it.
