One of the most eerie places I've plopped my butt. This gas chamber was actually used to execute inmates at the old Wyoming State Penitentiary. I may have been making a silly face but it was only to not show how legitimately creeped out I was sitting in there.

The Spiral Jetty, a large earthwork sculpture made by Robert Smithson in 1970. It is constructed of basalt rocks and extends into the northern end of the Great Salt Lake. Human for scale, if you can find them (near the center of the spiral).

2023 was an awesome year! Started with a new job and then the adventures just kept coming.

There were concerts! We saw Alestorm, Beast In Black, Dance With The Dead, Delain, Gloryhammer, Lutharo, and Visions Of Atlantis.

Conventions! We went to FanX and MineFest.

Hiking! We hiked to an giant metal paper airplane in the mountains, Native American pictographs in a canyon, and in the redwood forests of California.

Road trips! California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, and Southern Utah.

The kids got to visit the ocean for their first time, and my first time since I was a teenager. There were hot springs, an eclipse, a crazy wet winter for us, and lots of Dungeons & Dragons.

Here's to an even better 2024!

Dreaming of the ocean. I've lived my entire life in the landlocked state of Utah, and I very much prefer living at higher elevations – my hometown is at 4,300 ft. and some of my favorite camping spots & hiking trails are in 10,000 ft range – but I wish we had the time and money to visit the ocean more often.

Sozos Michael as Angus McFife wielding the ancient Hammer of Glory. Gloryhammer is one of my favorite bands and it was so awesome to see them live touring with Alestorm earlier this year – and they just announced that they're coming back, headlining another North American tour! Not the best quality photo ever but, hey, low light with only an iPhone SE, so cut me some slack. 😅
