There is simply not that much demand for BEVs. It is mostly a fad driven by subsidies and virtue signaling. It's a matter of when, not if something will give. VW and other car companies will have to cut production and move away from BEVs. Likely towards cars.

@Hypx And and get significantly more. Europe has hydrogen IPCEIs, the US has Incentives for Clean Hydrogen Production in its Inflation Reduction Act. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Nevertheless, demand for massively exceeds demand for . So, what’s the real ‘fad’ here?

@Hypx

are not lighter than equivalent though.

The kerb weight of a 2023 Toyota Mirai is 1900 kg.

A 2023 Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD has a kerb weight of 1735 kg.

The is lighter !!!

@Hypx @mackaj Once again, we need in a carbon-free energy system. My solar panels don’t get me far in winter time.
But that doesn’t mean are a sensible technology. You can produce electrons from hydrogen much more efficiently at scale. And you can stop hydrogen much more efficiently at scale. Not in a vehicle.
