What is an ideal location for overnighting in Slovakia (or even neighbouring Czechia or Poland) for two nights that would give good access to various branch and main lines with reasonable scenery, possibly #FensterAuf, with possibility for round trips and not just back and forth? Only restriction is that I need to get from there to Zilina on Monday morning to take a train at 14:34 where I will meet a friend. (Have #Interrail) #BahnBubble

(Note that the train is not even half full, and if more people board I will obviously gather my things and occupy just one seat. We presumably passed the scenic bits already so I don’t need to jump between windows any longer.)
Oh my, dozens of people (some group of uni students?) board in Krems. This sorry little railcar is packed now with maybe two dozen passengers having to stand. Hopefully not all the way to St Pölten. And thank goddess for #FensterAuf. If this was a slightly newer train with AC that would likely be borked anyway and non-openable windows it would be hell.
🇸🇮☕️🥐 Sunday morning, one of the best things to do starting in #Vienna🇦🇹 is a decent breakfast at the #SŽ🇸🇮 #diningcar with EC 151 "Emona". Today with the vintage "WRl" restaurant carriage, beautiful round table lamps, #FensterAuf, curtains and a cosy atmosphere... Nothing else needed 😍!
Nach einer Übernachtung in Sfax ging es mit viel Verspätung wieder zurück in die Hauptstadt Tunis.
Von dort aus kann man über die TGM-Strecke, der ersten Bahnstrecke Tunesiens, einen Abstecher nach Carthage machen, welches mit einer Vielzahl an römischen Ruinen gespickt ist.
Unter anderem findet man dort das römische Theater in dem Szenen für Life of Brian gedreht wurden.
Bergab sitzen wir im richtigen Wagen, dem mit #FensterAuf, so dass ich hier auch den untersten Abschnitt noch in Bildern festhalten kann. Kurz vor der Wendeschleife vor Aigle Chateau kommt auf der anderen Seite des Tals die Zahnradbahn Aigle - Leysin in's Visir, aber die Bäume stehen der Kamera im Weg. Erst nach der Serpentine, als bereits die Rebstöcke östlich Aigles durchstreift werden, gelingt das bildliche Festhalten am letzten Steilstück von Fontanney herunter. Fast hätte ich da auch die parallel bergab fahrende Bahn erwischt, aber die war dann doch einen Tick schneller.
Vor Aigle fällt außerdem das Chateau de l'Aigle, das Schloss, in's Auge -- Auge heißt auf Schwyzzerdütsch bestimmt Aigli oder so. Ein kurzer Straßenbahn-artiger Abschnitt noch, dann sind wir wieder am Bahnhof. #IlTourPrimaDiNatale
Einen noch früheren guten Morgen aus Gijón, wo leichter Nieselregen übernommen hat - Zeit wieder abzureisen. Leider gönnt man uns nicht die Lok für Oberleitungsbetrieb, sondern hat wieder den Diesellokdoppelpack vorgehängt. Es werden Wetten angenommen, mit wie viel Verspätung heute Madrid erreicht werden wird. #Herbstbogen
Danach: mit #FensterAuf hoch zum Pajares-Pass! 🥰

Damit sage ich Tschüss Asturien, es war wieder sehr schön! Für wenige Tage ist meine persönliche Streckenkarte in Asturien damit komplett, aber noch diesen Monat soll der neue Pajares-Tunnel eröffnet werden… #Herbstbogen
