Hello it is a month with 30 days in it so this is the start of my #30Inks30Days thread. This year I am swatching each ink on two different traveler's notebook inserts, the regular blank 64 page and the lightweight 128 page that I think is Tomoe River paper. Just to see how different ink looks on different paper.
#30Inks30Days Day 5: Diamine Autumn Oak
This is a lovely colour but really shines in regular writing compared to large swatches imo, you get so much shading. 🍂 #FountainPenInks#OpalsInkSwatches
Just found out that Octopus Fluids have come out with 6 new sheening inks, and a few of them are very interesting combinations. I'm especially curious about the Dragon, Phoenix, & Goblin inks. Those 3 are combinations I don't think I've ever seen in any other ink.
Red and pink for both Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day (:
J. Herbin Rouge Hématite
2:1 Pelikan Edelstein Star Ruby : Colorverse Crab Nebula
Both inks have some shimmer though it’s not super pronounced. I’ve tried to show it off a bit where possible, but it’s mostly visible as a sparkle in the second pic.
I’ve been using Platinum Carbon Black a lot in the past few weeks, as I started a new notebook in which it’s one of the few inks that works well. This is the first time since I started using #FountainPens where I have used a black ink on a regular basis. But… it’s kind of nice? I didn’t expect that. I like the high contrast of black on cream paper.
I’m definitely not giving up my colors, but I seem to have developed a new appreciation for black, it’s classic for a reason.
@Sollenbum hey, nice! I got a sample of Periwinkle Twinkle recently, though I only used it in the Hocoro and not in a fountain pen yet. I’ve heard that Dominant Industry shimmers vary and some tend to clog more than others. I only have experience with a couple myself so not enough data to really say. I will say that Colorverse shimmers have always worked well for me. #FountainPenInks
Did something I very rarely do and kept a pen and ink in rotation after I'd finished it.
The more I use this pen and ink the more I'm enjoying it. Which kinda feels mad as it's one of more affordable/obtainable pens in my collection. But the ink is so lovely for actually staying purple on yellow paper #JustDyslexicThings and the fude nib just so versatile with line width, particularly if you use reverse writing. ✒️ #FountainPens#FountainPen#fountainpenink#fountainpeninks#dyslexia#dyslexic
Personal #Inkvent — Inksmas day 12
Sailor Yurameku Date Gokoro 伊達心
Thanks for coming along with me on this Advent and Christmas adventure! Our last ink is a sheen ink from Sailor's 2nd Yurameku series, dusty blue with maroon sheen. The Yurameku series has been quite interesting, all of them are some kind of color variation like multi-shading or unusual sheen combos.
Pen: Sailor Hocoro fude
Paper: Tomoe River 52gsm original
So, Endless have started making inks now, with a very... interesting... bottle design. It's certainly eye-catching & it'll look great on a desk, but I feel like it'd be awkward to store.
Guess what I just did? I just mixed in 2 parts Pelikan Star Ruby to one part Colorverse Butterfly Nebula. I’m still working my way through the original Butterfly Nebula already in the feed. So far, it’s lavender with some visible twinkle to it. Will update with final pics in next couple days (:
A little late with this, but the last of the Cult Pens ink subscription boxes arrived the day I flew out to the Canaries for a few weeks 🤷 This time the inks are:
Diamine Spring Green
Diamine Aqua Lagoon
Robert Oster Lyme Regis Grey
Robert Oster Dartmoor Brown
Jaques Herbin Terre d’Ombre
Ferris Wheel Press Moss Park Green
I’ve been really happy with these 3 boxes, but it’d’ve been nice if there’d been some smaller brands that people might not have had the chance to try before. #FountainPenInks
Personal #Inkvent - Inksmas day 1
Diamine Seasons Greetings
Happy Christmas! I will continue this series at least through the twelve days of Christmas (:
A dark forest green with red sheen, this is from 2019’s Inkvent Blue. Sheen very apparent on TR, but does show up as highlights on other papers. If you use a wetter pen, it might look like nothing but sheen.
Personal #Inkvent day 21
Noodler's Apache Sunset (Southwest Sunset)
Sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset—you get the idea.
Long one of Noodler's most popular inks. One of the best examples of shading inks; very visible variation from yellow to orange, as the name might suggest. Very light in a finer nib, but very suitable for inkier nibs like fude, or brush pens.
Writing sample: details in thread
Pen: Sailor Hocoro fude
Paper: Tomoe River 52 gsm original
A note about the writing sample: it's from "Sundown walks to the edge of the story" by Joy Harjo, former U.S. poet laureate who is American Indian. As there was controversy about cultural appropriation of the original name of this ink in the context of the wider controversy about Noodler's ink labels, I thought it would be appropriate to pair this ink with a Native American poet's work as a way to acknowledge that.
