Boy, am I glad Vinta wrap their ink bottles with film! My bottle of Tequila Sunrise from @cultpens leaked, but thankfully the film kept it from being a complete disaster, so only a little bit was lost.
Completely unscientific comparison between two editions of the same #FountainPenInk

Old ink leans teal if looking closely, and the sheen looks redder. The new ink is more straight up dark blue, and the sheen looks more gold. Purportedly reformulated ~2015. #FountainPen
#SwatchWednesday time! My BlueBlack exclusive Colorverse inks arrived yesterday! So happy to finally have a bottle of Goryeo Celadon 🥰 I used it in a Homo Sapiens for a few weeks last year & have been itching to pick it up since. Also got the 2nd set of samples I won on the @penaddict stream (thanks again, Brad!) swatched. That's me completely up to date now. I'll need to start thinking about what I want my 200th ink to be. It needs to be something special. Any suggestions? #FountainPenInk
I have a chance to buy Lamy Dark Lilac (2024) locally, but decided not to. I just bought Teranishi Guitar Taisho Salon de Violet, which has less sheen, showing the violet, which I prefer. I might change my mind later and get the Dark Lilac, but since it's not limited edition I might put it off for the meantime.
It's no secret the Pilot CON-40 is not a great converter for fountain pen ink, but once you learn the trick to filling them almost full it's not quite so bad. I still don't like them, but this makes them a little more tolerable.
#SwatchWednesday time! That's me up-to-date with my ink swatches again, although there are still a few samples enroute from the U.S. along with an order from BlueBlack in S. Korea. I'll need to try not to buy any more inks this month. We'll see how long that lasts... 😅
Just filled the last page of my ink journal and will start a new one this week. I’ll take some snaps of all the swatches in the index for #SwatchWednesday (: I’ve catalogued around 170 inks so far across two ink journals.
New #FountainPenInk (yester)Day! 2 brands that I've never tried before: KWZ & 3 Oysters, plus a couple of Sailors. I didn't realise KWZ Honey smelled so good! Not of honey, though. Kind of a sweet vanilla scent. Way better than the strong chemical smell of the Sailor inks 🤣 Is this common with KWZ inks, or is Honey a one-off?
Saw this quick review by MarcyMe of this year’s SE Pelikan Edelstein ink, Golden Lapis, seems to be same gold shimmer as in the Golden Beryl but with a blue base color.
Yessss - My new 'Switch' arrived a few minutes ago! 🤩🤩😁
As I told last weekend, its not really a #fountainpen , but to me it seems to be a compromise between fountain pen and 'regular' ballpoint pen. And, I only need it for writing outdoor.
What I really like: The pen swallows both ordinary standard #fountainpenink cartridges and the longer combination cartridges (Online/Lamy etc). And converters, too.
I still haven't inked any pen with Platinum Chou-kuro (the blackest black ink currently on the market). Joseph gave me a sacrificial Platinum Preppy to use with it,when he gave me the ink, since one needs to use purified or distilled water for cleaning. Will buy some distilled water this week just in case I need to clean Chou-kuro from a pen in the near future. It's that kind of high-maintenance ink.
This nib takes a bit of getting used to as it does have a very defined sweet spot. However, it shows shading extremely well and pairs nicely with a shading ink like this one. And if you’re writing Chinese, it’s a bit of magic— it made my awful Chinese cursive actually look kind of artistic or something.
Here’s two new Ferris Wheel Press inks, available now! EMERALD GARDENS is the newest #Ferritales ink, a lovely leaf green with red and gold shimmer, and DANCING THYME is a sage-green fountain pen ink. Also pictured is THE SCRIBE, a ballpoint pen with a lovely heft and rounded square body that I quite enjoy.
Here's a fresh-ish grid comparing a variety of EF and similar fountain pen nibs. I tried to limit it to pen+inks with thinner lines to keep it manageable.
Still some variance by ink but not a ton in this group. I tried to use more Diamine Sapphire Blue, which is a bit on the dry side compared to Pilot Iroshizuku inks.
The Platinum UEF is still the best. Kakuno is still the next best. Penmanship is nearly the same as Kakuno.
Hello it is a month with 30 days in it so this is the start of my #30Inks30Days thread. This year I am swatching each ink on two different traveler's notebook inserts, the regular blank 64 page and the lightweight 128 page that I think is Tomoe River paper. Just to see how different ink looks on different paper.
#30Inks30Days Day Two we've got another hot pink in the form of Diamine Party Time.
When the blue shimmer catches the light it is just chef's kiss etc imo. #OpalsInkSwatches#FountainPenInk
