It wasn't until earlier this year that his grave was identified as part of the #Indigenous #LegacyProject - a joint #initiative between the #RoyalCanadianLegion & #AboriginalVeterans #Autochtones . Cheer's was one of 17 Indigenous graves identified at the cemetery.

#Squamish Nation councillor Sxwíxwtn, Wilson Williams, was part of a small delegation that recently returned from visiting the graves.

November 8 serves as #Indigenous #VeteransDay across #Canada commemorating more than 12,000 #FirstNations , #Inuit & #Metis people who served in conflicts throughout Canada’s history — including dozens of people from #Tkemlúps te #Secwépemc .

Tk’emlúps will also be hosting a #RemembranceDay ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m on November 11, in the Pen Pen cemetery across from St. Joseph’s Church on #Chilcotin Road.
