I’m sorry but the interface for adding alt text (image descriptions, which all images should have) on mobile is terrible in most apps. Here is tumblr and the Mastodon app. 👎 #mastodonsupport#mastodonapp#alttext
(please do not reply telling me to use desktop, I do, it’s great, or with other work-around suggestions. I just posted the names of 30 insects using OCR and a host of other tools— I’m the queen of work-arounds! the point here is that “accessibility” shouldn’t be an afterthought!)
I just noticed that Mastodon web is identifying Group accounts in the UI and happy to see it.
With the #Threadiverse expanding, I appreciate knowing that I am replying or interacting with a Group account, where my response may end up in front of audiences I wasn't expecting.
Hoping more third party clients will start adding this as well.
The identifier is included in any Account element returned in through the official API.
🎉 Celebrating one year since my first contribution to @moshidon! Over the past 12 months, I've added dozens of features and improvements, in 66 pull requests and 291 commits (porting some of them over to @megalodon in "only" 39 pull requests). In total, I added ~17k lines of code. Looking forward to another year.
Why doesn't the official #mastodonApp have the lists feature yet?!
If it's one of the basic features of #Mastodon, why was it excluded from the mobile app to begin with?
On the one hand, one needs to follow a bunch of people in order to get a full and interesting post feed (in the absence of any algorithm).
On the other hand, in order to have a consistent and meaningful interaction with a reasonable and selected group of people, one needs a feature like that!
After using both the official #Mastodon and #Tusky#Android apps for a while, I think my preferred app is the official Mastodon app. For now, I'll keep both on my phone because I appreciate the ability to follow hashtags on the Tusky app.
Only do you type some obscure hashtag on #Tusky, and app restarts. My writing is all gone. Automatic drafts could prevent the loss that took me THE SECOND TIME to realize it wasn't a slip of my finger! 🙄😤
Does official #MastodonApp suffer from this or I'm safe to try it?
Hmm...did preview card displays on mastodon web change recently? Makes the timeline jumpy.
If the link has an oEmbed, you get that immediately, but then as the post comes into view, it starts generating a preview card and makes the timeline move around.
Not happening on the app, just the web version.
Interesting because previously the cards were generated server side only...
I've really enjoyed working on new features for @moshidon lately, so here's another one. Polls now animate to show their options when you click "Show Results".
Way too much time was spent just watching and enjoying the animation.
A new fediverse iOS app called fedicat @technicat (TestFlight) has a feature I’m calling “bloosts” which is a boost and a like in one button. I love it.
Now I want a “bloostmark” that boosts, likes and bookmaks a post at the same time. 😅
Lots of progres on the next #Pipilo update. I decided it’ll be the last TestFlight update with new features (only bug fixes after that) so there is a lot of new stuff.
Some highlights: followers and followed users, post visibility and language selection when posting, option to post with content warning, new feedback menu, screen with precise text selection and find feature for post content, link preview cards when submitting posts and more in progress.
