My second was the beginner grade RX-78-2. This was a fun, quick one to put together and I want to go for a higher grade for this model eventually.

I didn't grow up with Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z. I stopped having cable at home in the early 90s. So, my first real experience with Dragon Ball Z was in college. I had a roommate who would watch subtitled episodes late at night really loud, which annoyed me. I avoided the franchise for that reason for a long while.

In 2019, I picked up a copy of Dragon Ball FighterZ because of how highly it was rated. I fell in love with it immediately. Such an amazing fighting game. In December, Viz's Shonen Jump service dropped and allowed you access to their full archive of manga for certain series. Dragon Ball was among them. I decided to read the manga to get the backstory of these characters. I became enthralled and within three months had read all of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super.

Since then, I have plowed through so much manga from Akira Toriyama. From Cowa to Sandland to a ton of stuff in between. His influence on the anime and manga industry will be felt for generations to come.

Here's a picture of a few of the Bandai model kits I have of Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan forms.

Rest in Peace, Toriyama. Thank you for all you have given us over the years. May your family and fans be comforted following your passing.

Thanks to @anianimalsmoe for the heads up on Eevee day. The perfect excuse to get this kit off of my model backlog!

...and we're done! A really fun kit that was super easy to build. I admit I'm a little disappointed in the limited poseability (the smaller Bandai Eevee has a lot more moveable joints), but the size and overall look of Eevee is really pleasing.
Thanks for following my build, and happy Eevee day!

Wooden hut kit.

These are the master copies of the pieces of my hut kit experiment.
As I intended to cast them, I did not create enough pieces to build a full hut, these are blu-tacked together to show the rough shape and the versatility of the pieces; e.g. wall pieces can be flipped, the door and window can be placed anywhere, etc.

I learnt a lot about model kits from this project.

All the master pieces for my hut kit laid out with numbers indicating how many of each item in supplied in the eventual kit.

This hut was built from mainly mis-casts of my multi-part wooden hut kit. With a few scratchbuilt parts to give it "life".
28mm (1:56) scale.

The kit were made for me to learn about model kit production and see if it was a good direction to go in.

This model stands as an example of what can be achieved with my kit, and a little skill.

Front view of a wooden hut. The door is closed. Some damage can be seen in the roof. A storage tank can been seen to one side and a metal "crow's nest" is on the roof.
Side view of a wooden hut. A storage tank can been seen in the centre of the picture. A ladder leads up to a metal "crow's nest" on the roof.

As designed, the door for my hut kit includes a hinge and can be opened.

This allows you to see what you have placed inside, as an alternative to a removable roof... or a big hole in the wall, which you can also have with a little modelling skill.

In addition to the modifications to my hut kit, I also scratchbuilt a rooftop lookout.

Bits of sprue for the frame and some textured plasticard.

Will fit a 40mm base and gives good cover for your average 28mm scale miniature.

And it's removable.

Showing how 2 miniatures fit on the rooftop lookout. 40mm base of left, 25mm base on right.
An ork miniature peek out over the lookout side.

Closer looks at the structure of the hut kit example build.

The wall panels are interchangable and invertable, as are the posts inside. This was a design choice to avoid repetition in the wall surface.

The doorway and window can also be placed anywhere around the wall of the hut.
