@ploum@organicmaps@peertube Google search and email were easy to leave and I do not miss them at all. Next stage, I also hosted my own Nextcloud instance which helped me leave Google Drive.
Google Maps and Youtube are difficult to leave in my opinion. I use #osmAnd but the anxiety of getting lost on road and being hit with traffic and road closures makes me check Google Maps here in the US.
Will plan to selfhost Peertube sometime but the network effect of Youtube might take a long long time to beat. I currently consume Youtube via #Tubular (fork of #NewPipe) but will make effort to make myself independent of it slowly

Magic Earth, while not open source, is truly a great alternative.
Organic Maps (open source) is slightly below Magic Earth, quite slow to calculate long trips, but guiding is almost as good.
While I agree for YouTube, it should be known to everybody that better and FREE frontends exist : Libretube or Tubular (the latter giving also access to... Peertube !) @ploum@organicmaps@peertube
Die neue #OSMand Version spamt mich ziemlich mit Symbolen aller Art zu und ich kann das nicht abschalten. Dadurch ist die APP auch echt langsam geworden :blob_gnikniht:

Tipp: bei Radfahren eher auf #OpenStreetMap setzen. Da sind viel mehr Rad- und Schleichwege drinnen. Von den Apps her ist #osmand der Allrounder. Die GUI und Bedienung sind etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Über #fdroid bekommst die Pro Version sogar Kostenlos. Ich habe die Bezahlvariante, weil ich gerne Entwickler unterstütze. #Bikecitizens hatte ich früher, echt super, da sind mir jetzt die Abo-Preise zu hoch. War früher deutlich günstiger, verwende aber die
Wer würde denn auf die Idee kommen, dass Waze auch ins Google-Imperium gehört? Ich erst mal nicht als Laie. Da könnte ich ja gleich bei Maps bleiben. Und bei Waze bin ich wohl teilweise sogar völlig gläsern, da andere Fahrer mich "sehen" können.
Was bleibt noch als Alternative, wenn man aus Google raus will?

Ich denke schon, denn #osmand ist ein bisschen was für Nerds und manchmal unnötig kompliziert, wobei #magicearth für Normalos gemacht wurde. Scheint mir jedenfalls so!
Wie immer empfiehlt sich die Nutzung von #fdroid, aber das kennen #googlefree-Leute i.d.R.ja schon.
#followerpower Anyone has any issues with #osmand on Android these days? Usually, after a few seconds, the app will almost completely lock up my device, eventually resulting in system UI restarting. Didn't see this before so far...
J'ai remarqué que lorsque j'éteins mon tél. je le met dans ma poche, puis je le ressors, il s'allume tout seul, et directement sur l'interface de la carte (sans déverrouiller)
C'est pas mal. En revanche, c'est très gourmand en batterie, car les sensors l'utilisent bcp.
Ya-t-il un moyen de désactiver cette fonctionnyalité ?

Weis wer ob und wie ich die Infos von https://freifunk-karte.de in OsmAND importieren kann? Ich weis das das nicht immer aktuell ist aber würde das gerne wie die Bubatzkarte im Notfall auch ohne Internet nutzen können um damit internet zu finden xD #freifunk#osmand#osm
Contributing to #OpenStreetMap is really rewarding. With #OsmAnd and its live updates you can see your changes on the map about 10-15 minutes after you submit them. A big difference from #mapycz where you wait days for a review and even longer for the change to show up on the map.
i am using #Osmand for #navigation. the #f-droid version. i was so lucky with it, a long while it ran great on my old #samsung#galaxy#s5 on #lineageOS but now the crashes are back and its unusable again which it was several (partly very long) periods in the past. i don't know what they are doing that its such a pain in the ass; maybe they have problems to do a good memory management. i am very sad, because i love that app and its plugins. it nearly is able to do everything you would like to do with such an app. when it runs. now i'll try it with #organicmaps. seems to be spartan but stable. and it has no trackers. if you have any further ideas, you are welcome.
Nelíbí se mně, jak Seznam vyřešil svolení se sběrem osobních dat uživatelů. Ty dialogy jsou manipulativní a nabídka platit za necílenou reklamu absurdní. Přitom já bych třeba za Mapy.cz platil rád – ale tahle varianta ve hře není, takže sbohem. Díky @sesivany jsem narazil na #OsmAnd Maps, které mají pěknou aplikaci nad podklady Open Street Map, a nastavil jsem měsíční předplatné. Tam jsem za menší peníze opravdu zákazník, nejenom nějaký moula, který chce prudit s GDPR, tak ať si to zaplatí.
The new "money or data" policy of #Seznam made me explore #OSM based apps and I'm really surprised how good they have become.
And #StreetComplete? It's best fun since I was "stumbling" to help Mozilla Location Service 10 years ago. 🙂
BTW any tip for a good map app that shows #hiking trails? I like #OrganicMaps, but I can't make the app show them. 🤷
I have been using #OsmAnd everywhere exclusively for the last fifteen or so years, and especially in Czechia it worked for me quite well (even better than in more rural parts of France or Italy, and poor Croatia … there is really a lot of work to do there!).

j’ai bien désactivé l’option dans paramètres de la carte "masquer les bâtiments" mais ça ne change rien…

@alm10965@stefanhanauska m. W. nutzt auch Apple für die iPhones #openstreetmap. Die Frage ist immer welche App man über die Daten baut. #osmand ist sehr brauchbar für Navigation. Nur die Echtzeit Verkehrsdaten fehlen mir.

L’idée serait de pouvoir utiliser Komoot dessus à la limite sachant que j’ai pas d’ordi sur moi…
J'utilise #Osmand sur le téléphone. Tu peux lui demander d'allumer l'écran uniquement quand c'est nécessaire (changements de direction). En ville il s'allume très souvent mais en voyage tu peux pédaler longtemps sans tirer sur la batterie. Parce que l'écran consomme beaucoup.

Are there any good apps to use as a replacement for google maps? It’s the only google service I’m still using.
