After getting the #Commodore#C64 and #C128 running again, the next device to repair is the #C1571.
It had #corrosion and #rust on the main board and the power supply is beyond repairworthiness. I'd replace the latter with a #meanwell RD-35 with 5 and 12 volt output.
One #diode was rusty, a few traces needed #cleaning and five #resistor looked bad. Hope the black hybrid chip is still okay.
Sadly, the lower read head seems to be broken, my work might've been in vain. #floppydrive#retrocomputer
Here a comparison of the old #powersupply and the replacement.
I already cleaned the old board, removed two rusted diodes, and unsoldered the ICs, but there might be more defective components, that's why I decided to replace it with something completely different.
Still unsure if I'll leave the cable binders for keeping it in place. #commodore#c1571#retrocomputer#restoration#meanwell#psu
Good and bad news... the replacement #PSU works, and the repaired PCB seems to work, too.
But the bottom read head is now confirmed dead. I measured the coils directly at the head. Like before, only the erase coil is intact. #Commodore#C1571#floppydrive#repair#retrocomputer
Absolute power and solidarity to the comrades holding down Camp Palestine at Portland State University. The love and support from these folks warms me like no other. I'm so inspired and deeply moved by the commitment, community, and power these friends wield. Please feel free to stop by and help with supplies if you can. Add your body if you can!
Hold the fort! From Chinook to Gaza, mobilize the Intifada!
small occupation so far by the psu library, it'll no doubt grow through the night, and perhaps the weekend -- no megaphones as of 7:00pm, i hope they keep it that way!
I FORGOT TO POST THE P-SPEC VOLUME ONE SCANS HERE :blobcatsweat:
P-SPEC Vol 1 covers the original PSO, Universe, Portable and Zero games--basically everything before PSO2. I hope you enjoy it :blobcathappy: #phantasystar#pso#psu
Tested the power supplies, including the one that I already owned.
Only the #C128#PSU has 5V in spec, at 5.02 Volt.
The #C64 PSUs have 5.18, 5.24, and 5.43 Volt - first value is concerning, latter two are dangerous. I'll have to open them and try to fix them. #commodore#retrocomputing#repair
Soms ben ik een enorme twijfelaar. Meestal weet ik wel aardig wat ik hebben wil qua computeronderdelen, maar ik zit een beetje in dubio over de aan te schaffen nieuwe voeding.
So you're telling me the difference between #PSU having a smothering defense and a sieve-like defense is four guys? That those four dudes, by themselves, were the only ones that had awareness of anyone but the guy holding the ball?
I feel like Sean Desai would have been at home coaching today's defense.
One sort of gets the impression that #PSU's receivers make Allar look like a mediocre QB, especially when they seem unwilling to let Pribula throw the ball (presumably he's an ok passer but not good enough to throw to receivers that don't get separation).
The #PSU on my partner's #PC does not have enough MOLEX connectors, just 2 instead of 3 which are needed for her case fans. Having to buy a new PSU (+ research whether it even has enough #MOLEX connectors beforehand) or replacing the case fans with something that doesn't use MOLEX seems like a hassle, and a #SATA to MOLEX adapter is definitely the easiest fix, and is the solution I had bought for just a little over a ringgit. But they're also very often warned against as it could be a fire hazard 🙃 I'm at a loss honestly.
Announcers talking about many #PSU fans are still at this all but decided of a #PSUvsUMD game. Dude, there's a crapton of PSU grads living in the NCR. No, most of these people don't have a 3+ hour drive back home. Most are locals that don't have the time or means to go to games in Happy Valley.
