One of the only perfect use cases for writing stuff for me that I can think of: Birthday Cards or Happy Special Occasion to people I've lost touch with and just want to say something generically upbeat.

Come to think of it, I actually had a program like this for my computer in the late 80's. It was called Personal Poet. It let you choose an occasion and it would write generic flowery verse for you. It was of course, pretty bad as far as poetry goes, but was entertaining enough to make you weight its earnestness more than its lack of talent.

Also found this Vintage Atari 520 ST Game System Machine on Goodwill. It's currently priced at $60 with the auction ending on May 29. Someday I’d love to get more into the Atari machines, both the 8-bit and 16-bit, they seem to be a bit of a dark horse that could have been much more popular even than they were. Confession of an Amiga enthusiast back in the day: I always liked the black and white hires mode of the Atari ST, which to me looked slicker than even the original Macintosh. And I still love that "printed page" experience of environments like Medley Interlisp.

I never saw an ST back in the day, but I heard about it, and I've obviously seen a decent bit of them online lately.

The thing I just can't get over is the big honking overscan borders. They're HUGE!

I don't mean to diss someone else's favorite machines. It's just something that makes me scratch my head.

What do #AtariST users think about the borders, and did they ever adjust them to get more screen real estate?

You're right, it doesn't look too much worse than a C64, although it doesn't compare well to the Amiga.

I'm guessing Jack wanted to make sure that people hooking theirs up to a TV didn't lose any part of the picture.

I do wonder if it was adjustable though. (If the Atari monitors had a picture size adjustment)
