#AllenWeisselberg then doubled the $180k to $360k. Weisselberg, #MichaelCohen says, expected that he would lose half because it would be taxed as income, & was making him whole.
This goes to #motive, toward how badly #Trump wanted this hidden, it actually cost Trump 2X what it would have otherwise.
Among the issues that Todd #Blanche brings up as he calls for a #mistrial is #StormyDaniels’s testimony that #Trump didn’t wear a condom. He argues that this testimony was deeply #prejudicial to his client — & asked what the jury is supposed to do w/ much of the info they received from Daniels’ testimony.
Prosecutor #Hoffinger argues that Daniels's story is important for #motive (as said) & #intent, to illustrate what Trump didn’t want the public to know before the election.
No, Trump was not selling classified documents. His retention and mishandling of those docs was extremely bad, but that's a long way from "he was giving them to Putin" or whatever. That's just silly.
Even if you think Trump is/was (implausibly) a Russian asset, Intelligence orgs don't want original stolen docs. That's the LAST thing they want someone to take. That means someone will likely figure out they're missing. Which makes the information in them MUCH less valuable.
@mattblaze Trump also lacks the motivation for selling secrets to the Russians.
He's driven by ego, the need to be famous, the need to be admired, the need to be seen as important, the need to be the center of attention - all things satisfied by keeping secret documents he can show off to fluff his ego.
He doesn't need money. He's rich, and if he wants more of that, tax and accounting fraud is easier to get away with, and is probably more lucrative to boot.
