tfw you apply a cumulative update in the development environment and funnily get an error that when you check the release notes, was fixed three updates previous. I hope I didn't screw myself here. #Regression
2024-05-10 13:04 a fix is proposed, which a bit later is confirmed to be working[2]; a msg stating "I'll send out the formal patch next week" follows a few hours later
2024-05-16 14:11 six days later the "Formal patch is still under internal review"[3]
Is this a regression on Fedora 40 that anyone else is seeing? Apps that launch full-screen are launching at @1x resolution even though my screen is set @2x. Un-maximizing the app fixes it.
You'll be working with another reviewer to read and run the code, make sure it fills a basic checklist which usually only takes a few hours, and beyond that whatever youd like to focus on. Both of these are collaborative review processes where the goal is to help these packages be usable, well documented, and maintainable for the overall health of free scientific software.
Its fun, I promise! Happy to answer questions and boosts welcome.
Edit: feel free to volunteer as a reply here, DM me, or commenting on those issues! Anyone is welcome! Some experience with the language required, but other than that I can coach you through the rest.
Weird functional regression on Windows 11—I seem to have lost the ability to set distinctive wallpaper for each virtual desktop. I had four desktops on my Surface Laptop Go until I reset it a couple of weeks ago; same thing for my Surface Go that I reset and started using again this past weekend. Now, on both machines, changing any of them changes all of them.
Would be even better if a few people could play this through – but I guess chances are slim anyone seeing this currently has a need for that. #LinuxKernel
Thoughts: Pretty straightforward, don't use stepwise regression. It is atheoretical and can produce causal inference mistakes; it is also a misuse of p-values.
"'"I'm not really happy with my performance wrt to my #regression tracking efforts during the last year. To counter that, I've already shifted my focus somewhat ~in October. With the new year I will shift it some more. Top-priority will be "make #regzbot more useful for kernel subsystem maintainers" from now on. My tracking efforts of course will continue, […]"'"
I am really getting tired of every online corporate platform turning to shit. It's getting to the point where, if the company is a corpo, they shouldn't be used just on general principle.
Totally. #IMGUR is infected with terrorist trolls now as well.
The community comments and interaction is so toxic I had to quit today.
I'm actually considering leaving all the Online communities including Mastodon in favor written journals. The #regression I've witnessed online because of #antisemitic opinions blasting Israel for Hamas declared Jihad is alarming and a sign of the current condition of #Humanity
Even I sometimes am astonished how quickly Linus occasionally reverts #Linux#kernel commits to fix a #regression; this is one such case, where I hadn't expected anything like that, as the culprit had already been merged for v6.2-rc1.
