I had been looking so hard to find the very tiny birds that I almost missed this thrasher sitting just overhead on an open tree limb. The sun was shining through the trees just right to show off its beautiful orange eye and chest feathers and patterns. From the look of its bill, it must have been afternoon snack time!
This morning I went for my first walk along the #Meewasin this year - after covid ravaged me in the spring, my energy levels were far too low. And it was a good morning! Lots of good photos.
First up - slightly out of focus, but I'm still chuffed about catching a merlin flying rapidly overhead.
