Mam sprawę do ludzi zajmujących się sprzętem, ewentualnie do jakiś adminów.
Jakie są szanse, że dysk SSD(M.2)/SSD(SATA) będzie w stanie poprawnie działać na lapku, kóry teoretycznie nie obsługuje takiej wielkości dysków? Obecnie mam SSD(M.2) 1TB, ale muszę kupić coś dużo większego i pomyślałem o SSD 4TB. Wszystko pięknie, ale wg ulotki producenta (z okolic 2018/2019), ten laptop jest w stanie uciągnąć max 2TB. Zarówno na złączu M.2, jak i SATA.
Dzwoniłem do pomocy technicznej producenta, ale trafiłem na gościa, który brzmiał jakby wczoraj za bardzo zabalował i jeszcze kac go trzymał, a co za tym idzie, jedyne co się dowiedziałem, to żeby patrzeć na to, co jest napisane w ulotce.
Anyone using a base model (8 gb ram, 256mb SSD) #M2#MacMini for music production, specifically Ableton Live? Internet says it is up to the task but I'd rather hear it from someone directly.
My almost ten-year-old PC is dying and I hope to revive it but as plan B, I see that the Mac Mini is on sale for $499 right now and I'm pretty sure any PC I bought for that much would be considerably less potent as a music production PC. (You can also convince me I'm wrong about that if you are inclined.)
The M2 Mac Mini is silent like just no noise. It’s crazy. None of my tasks have put it through any pace. I may try a game on it. I may idk this was suppose to by my dev / chore pc.

recently i have complained about the preview in #lightroom turning black until the cursor moves (or it takes a few seconds or glitches until it reveals the current content) – i have since realized that affinity photo is affected as well, althrough not as bad. are there some #apple#m2pro#m2 owners who know something on the issue? i am not sure how to look it up right now, this is quite frustrating...
My classic ThinkPad T43 (from 2005) used IDE/PATA storage. That's slow and unreliable, especially after the PATA->SATA bridge IBM included.
Instead, let's use NVMe SSDs in the ExpressCard/34 slot!
I modified the BIOS to include a custom Option ROM, which can translate the BIOS disk accesses into NVMe.
Windows XP, Debian 12, MS-DOS 6 can boot fine from NVMe!
And there it is. Mac Studio is worth my money. 5 minute 8K video rendered in 7 minutes on the Mac Studio. On my TRPro/RTX4090 rig AT BEST it would have taken half an hour to an hour, but most of the time it would have just crashed. (4K would have been fine.) I thought buying a USB nvme case to move a #Linux installation from an old m.2 sata to a new m.2 nvme disk was a good idea but that gave me USB errors after a few minutes. Apparently the 20€ usb adapter is trash.
Will do the copy 5x slower over 1Gbps ethernet now 🤷
@moreentropy yeah, that could depend on the adaptor manufacturer as #M2 drives also support USB 3.0 and most adaptors don't actually convert #SATA or #PCIe to #USB at all...
