The small amount of snow on the ground is forecast to wither away and should be snow-free for much of the next 2 weeks. Same for most of southern AB and SK.

Probably a better-than-average year for winter solar power generation, as El-Nino steers the usual panhandle/Colorado/gulf storms to flow straight east.

@johnefrancis I'm in much the same place. We've been focusing on insulation in this old place. Heat pump next but also hoping that we can install the Canadian Solar EP Cube residential storage soon, but I think the regs won't allow it at the moment. Seems energy storage systems can't be inside without a specific UL cert + need dedicated space.

@perkinsy It's something that surprises me every time when I come back to Australia for a visit. I live in Ottawa, Canada, and it gets cold here. So the houses are insulated accordingly. But the coldest I've ever felt in a house in Australia in winter, during temperatures most Canadians would call "t-shirt weather".

I should add that I've only been there for a few days and this is my first impression. There's some fun stuff too, I have to say, including an Alf meme and copious booty pics. But still a bit self-obsessed. Maybe it needs time to germinate the more interesting stuff that I take for granted here.
