#rpgaday2023 Day 17 - Funniest game I played

Wow, not easy. I played many hilarious games. To pick the funniest? Can't do it. #paranoia and #discworld made up for some serious fun, but also some #Shadowrun, #Earthdawn and #Changeling sessions were full of perfect comedy.

#rpgaday2023 Day 15 - Favorite Con Module/One-Shot

That was a session of GURPS #Discworld at RatCon in Ratingen some time around 2000. What made it so memorable were the people, that joined for it. They played it perfectly! It was the right tone of weird fun, everything I could have hoped for. Never had a Discworld session this good again.
Probably they won't read this or remember it like I do, but nonetheless thank you my players of that day!

#rpgaday2023 Day 11 - Weirdest game I've played

No questions, that is #MechanicalDream. Playing insect sized species in a world that is clearly not a planet. Does not even have a sun, but a pendulum shedding its light, but also reality. When it's gone the Dream takes form. Animating things, which often go on rampage. You play powerful characters, which can reach even the level of those 'regular' sized creatures. Also psychology plays a massive role. Sadly oop for years.

I want to understand this, as fictional media on RPG settings. My favorite is probably one of the old #Earthdawn novels, "Die Geister die man ruft". I don't know if I should dare to read it again. Maybe I need a new answer then. XD

#rpgaday2023 Day 9 - Favorite Dice

Okay people you gotta be strong now. I could not take a photo of my favorite dice set before leaving for a business trip.
It is a set of grey speckled dice with yellow eyes. From time to time I fancy others of course, but they are kind of all time favorites.

I do see a lot of really beautiful sets of handmade dice from @MightyMightyDice . Maybe I'll have enough play money left to get one some time.

Today, I don't have any of my own. But I really love some of my players characters. @hexenkind played a wonderful Eshu named Asra, once in a great #changeling campaign we did. And @michaelhaug did a great part with his Orc Barber in #SunderedSkies (can't find the name in my notes, sorry).

Smartest RPG played

As for others I've read today, I find it difficult to answer this question. What makes a RPG smart?
#PtbA Games tailor the rules very good to the explicit figure out the actual game. Monster of the Week works quite well. The playbooks are very good at fueling imagination in the way the stories go.
#Earthdawn is smart in a way, that the rules integrate very very well into the game world.

But still I'd name neither as a smart RPG

Day 6 - Favorite RPG I never play
Hard to tell. First I will just look at it from a fictional perspective. Games which capture my imagination. So, my choice is #avatarlegends . I really like the Avatarverse, but the balance mechanic is stressing me out just by reading. As a player, no problem, anytime. But I'd have to gm it.

From a mechanical perspective I would like to play #FATE , but no group around, so what to do?

#rpgaday2023 Day 5 - Oldest RPG you played

On regular sessions that would be Paranoia probably. We had some really hilarious sessions in between our #WoD Campaigns back in the early 00s.

Once a year some friends and I go gaming for a long weekend. We made it a habit to play new (old) games there. Candidates for oldest #rpg would be Skyrealms of Jorune and ADnD. To be honest I do not remember much. SoJ seemed wonderfully strange and ADnD like very classic Fantasy.

Day 4 - Most recent game I bought
That would be the kickstarted new Version of City of Mist. I was eyeing it ever since I listened to the actual play by @3w6fm
Since I recently came to play some more PtbA games it was the right time to go.
On the other hand, there is still my copy of the #AvatarLegends RPG lying around. Though it got me hooked up on the Avatarverse once more, I don't like the balance mechanic.

#rpgaday2023 Day 2 - First Gamemaster must have been Shadowrun. And yes, we were young and it did not need to be very deep but with a punch :rm_funny:
It was plain simple fun and I am still gamemastering mostly. So I'd say thank you old friends for being friendly with me.

Ich nähere mich dem Ende des zweiten Romans. Cherryh hat das Tempo erheblich herausgenommen, vielleicht ein bisschen zu sehr, aber ihre Stärken - Worldbuilding und Charaktere – treten so noch stärker zu Tage. Guter Roman, aber ich bin auch froh, dass er gegen Ende deutlich an Spannung gewinnt.
