Daily #Wales today is NOT a pic of last night’s aurora (seen it all amazing with the naked eye when a kid in Sutherland anyway, no, not sulking because I missed it, why would you think that). It’s a pic of the estuary, with bonus Not My Labrador refusing to come out. Again.
Daily #Wales this weekend should be coming from an extraordinary event, Wonderwool Wales, except I’m not going this year. So here are a couple of pics from previous years (yes, there are sheep as well as LOTS of wool)… and no, it’s not cruel. These are some of the most pampered and loved sheep ever.
I had a, um, discussion with a visitor yesterday who clearly thought that shearing a sheep killed it. She probably still thinks that - left shaking her head, as though I was sadly indoctrinated.
(Probably also believes London is a no-go zone or that being English is virtually illegal, two pieces of similar idiocy I’ve seen recently)
Daily #Wales today is a #bloomscrolling - gorse in the background, blackthorn in the foreground. Every autumn I come up here to pick sloes from the blackthorns for sloe gin. Must decant last year’s production…
I wish there was smellovision - the gorse is astonishing, a coconut overload. As though the trees had smeared themselves in suntan lotion.
I did damson vodka one year (well, the little wild plums common round here, eirin bach) and it was FAB. Thank you for reminding me about using vodka instead 👍
Daily #Wales is back on flowers today, so possibly #bloomscrolling with an added orange-tip butterfly (and just a hint of a purple fritillary flower in the background, left hand side - they’re good this year).
"When the Muskrat arrived in the cave he was very pleased with everything. He spread out his rug on the sandy floor, sat down on it, and began at once to think. All was quiet and peaceful. How unnecessary it is to run about and chatter, to build a house and cook food and collect possessions! He looked contentedly around his new home. Here I shall stay for ever and ever, he thought."

@JackTheCat I’m increasingly convinced that the Tories’ main aim is to give as much of the public purse as possible to their mates / twist things as much as possible in their favour while they still can. And feck any pretence at governing. Or decency, etc.
Well, they’re Tories. Dunno why I expect anything else, really.
I’ve a stupidly busy week coming up, so I’m starting it with a calming Daily #Wales in winter. Some mornings betoken spring - but though they look warm, they’re not.
@fkamiah17@KateCelyn Nah, but decided to take an unforeseen trip to a foreign land on Saturday which has thrown the week out.
(Nothing too exciting. We’re going to Chester, shopping. Will be careful to leave before sunset just in case that old law about what happens to Welsh interlopers after dark isn’t just a myth.)
Daily #Wales, still in winter. Though there is a hintette of spring in the air (judging by previous years, as in this pic from Feb 2018, that may well be illusory). #Cymru#Landscape#Photography
This is an article that took a lot of strength to write and I might take it down again. But I felt like it is an article that is very necessary right now. https://bastianallgeier.com/notes/grandpa
It’s really a South Walian tradition (though it seems to be spreading all over the place recently) but here in the north we had a visit from ….
not just one Mari Lwyd, but two. Note the absence of actual horse skulls, though. Probably just as well. #Cymru#YFariLwyd#MariLwyd#tradition
Boy, did I struggle with the Alt Text on this one. It does sound a little deranged, but just try describing any folk tradition without sounding as though you’ve overdone the mead.
Anyway, apologies to anyone trying to understand. Madness.
