ArrLAMetro is coming to a boiling point over safety after the latest stabbing/murder.

Lots of anger over Metro's refusal to keep dangerous people off the trains and buses.

And lots of people saying there's nothing Metro can even do so we just got to accept it.

Pretty wild conversations happening.

How do other cities keep their metro systems safe?

Some ideas:

  • safety nets
  • better food/water/env standards so less messed up people
  • actually prosecuting bad actors instead of throwing them out back onto the streets
  • applying broken glass theory and having clean / pleasant experiences
  • propaganda campaigns
  • actually funding their metros

pico.sh just straight up doesn’t use passwords and only ssh keys 😍

Okay I probably need to switch to a electric or push mower, but at least needing to get gas was an excuse to get a ride in, and I've already missed too many days this month. Bungie cords work great keeping a gas can on a rear rack.

    @Inextinguishable_Ravings I think suburbs make sense for many reasons, I simply wish we had better suburbs in the US instead of only eucleadian car dependent, and that they'd be legal to build / old suburbs upzoned by small developers.

    @archliberal Totally agree. Clean code does have a point about excessive comments (especially that just restate the parameters and the method name), but comments can be extremely valuable in describing decisions/approach, chains of conditionals, any things done for performance, etc.

    I just realized that in AZ I would need to have "the surgery" to change my legal gender.

    That means I need to undergo sterilization for the government to recognize my right to self-determination over my identity.
