This is how healthcare should care for the health of its staff and patients. 1) fit-tested FFP2 masks 2) HEPA-filtered air in enclosed spaces 3) ventilation 4) measure those actions.
Clean air is clean air. It doesn't need RCT studies. h/t @PieterPeach

@chowderman @osma Here is a cost benefit analysis for cleaner air interventions in the general community.
Where healthcare facilities have a higher frequency of presentations of infectious people (eg family doctors, emergency departments, respiratory wards) this is likely to be even more significant.

Is there any instance or app that supports ?

@PieterPeach@mastodon.social avatar

@john_brown_jovi on iOS Ice Cubes allows quoting of a post with a preview that other users of Ice Cube see as a preview. It does essentially the same as a quote toot but at the client level. Not sure about Android

@john_brown_jovi agreed. The original poster’s username is included so they receive a notification, but it would be good to hide it so it doesn’t take up characters

Prior to the pandemic our hospitals in Victoria Australia never fit-tested their staff for respirators.
Now we have fit testers employed full time at the Royal Children’s Hospital and staff that were fit tested at the beginning of the pandemic are being retested to ensure their face shape hasn’t changed, and that new Australian made models fit. 🧵(1/n)

We also just wheeled in a portable HEPA filter (Samsung AX90T ~ $500 bulk purchase) into a birth suite in labour ward in another hospital for a COVID-19 patient adding 16 air changes per hr when run on level 2. These are the same devices installed in every public school class in the state of Victoria.
Portable , fit tested respirators, these are all sustainable long term solutions to reduce the risk of nosocomial and workplace acquired infection with viruses like (2/n)

Do I feel more protected walking in to insert an epidural today with a heavily vocalising patient in a poorly ventilated birth suite with an extra 16 air changes per hour? Absolutely. We know that a portable can augment the effectiveness of a fitted respirator as demonstrated in this study below. (3/n)

Me, thinking hyperventilation was synonymous with tachypnea and not understanding how you could hyperventilate and have an unchanged respiratory rate

@enirenberg What’s the context here? It would be very unusual for someone to hyperventilate with a normal respiratory rate and larger tidal volumes.

PieterPeach,
@PieterPeach@mastodon.social avatar

@enirenberg yes, pregnancy would be one example

It’s great seeing content on the from different servers on my feed. Social media platforms should always have been like email, i.e. no one centralised entity, just multiple servers passing on messages.

@Aparachick the other website relies on the transition costs being high to keep you there. Whether you’re 60 or 20 it will take a little time and effort to transition but it’s worth it.

@Aparachick try a better client. What operating system do you use? iOS, android?

@AndrewMeffan I’m replying here rather than on the other site. The functionality is almost on par except for the ability to quote toot which will hopefully come at some point. Worth trying Mammoth beta app to see the quality of the clients appearing https://testflight.apple.com/join/66c1wW8y
