i need a blanket that i can roll up in, in the dead of summer, that traps no heat. i just cant get to sleep without covers. some magic space age material. wonder if something transparent to ir would work.
@bobmagicii I am basically the same way. Sheets kind of work for me but I think it takes longer for me to fall asleep with a sheet rather than a blanket, and quality of sleep isn't the same. I wonder if a crocheted afghan would work for you? (I'm visualizing the style that has numerous holes) My mom used to make those and I had a couple growing up.
Stuff I found out recently that may help someone that has ADHD and plans to visit Japan:
There are a limited number of ADHD medications that Japan allows visitors to bring with them, and I found out this month that Vyvanse is one of those. There is a process that requires a filled-out application, a letter from the prescribing medical provider (must be the doctor, nurse practitioner will not suffice), and photographs of the medication and the container.
Is there a fun story behind the new https://www.php.net/manual/en/function.str-increment.php / str_decrement functions in #PHP? Sounds like a feature someone needed for a very particular use case. Surprised something like that made it from userland into PHP.
@ramsey@Crell we have a fully capable type system with runtime enforcement. The phrasing "type hint" is used when it's a "hint" but there's nothing in the runtime to enforce it.
I decided to get back into drawing...and it feels a little weird spending money on a hobby...that requires stuff that takes up room in my apartment...when I have several other hobbies for stuff I've purchased, that also takes up room... I really need to figure out how to organize this stuff better. I've mitigated the problem somewhat by purchasing containers to contain the stuff... I still have to figure out where to put the containers in my apartment. #ramble
To where having the containers is useful to keep the stuff contained, and also I can jump back into the hobby if I really want to, again.
I guess a compromise to be made is that...the containers aren't easily accessible, so that I have to make a decision of wanting to jump back into the hobby...I know that the stuff is available in my apartment, I may have to dig for the containers... but all of the items are contained in the containers. #ramble
A thing I've come to terms with is... when I lose interest in a hobby, it doesn't mean it's no longer interesting, it's only that it's less interesting than the current fixation. As a result, I shouldn't get rid of the stuff associated to the currently-less-interesting hobby.
If the frequency of the news articles that I don't want to see have increased, then I just exclude the news source from google's algorithm. I guess it's more of a case of how I use those feeds: a temporary break from life (so stuff that I find relaxing), or stuff that I feel compelled I need to be aware of (security-related stuff) ... if I want to access a specific news site or read a specific news article, I open it in a web browser.
I don’t understand folks getting super-excited that they won’t have to use an XML config file. Is using an XML config file that big of a hurdle to developer happiness?
@Crell@ramsey I, too, like XML. I never worked with SOAP, and my general interactions with XML in the context of PHP have been pretty good. Just need a good spec, where the files strictly adhere, and the files pass xmllint. I've also been okay working with JSON, as long as there's consistency. Easier to force consistency in XML, though.
