Something we worked on at Roave for #documentation 📖 for clients was a CLI tool intended to be run in CI that takes markdown and converts it to a single page HTML (e.g. for GitHub/Gitlab Pages), some PDFs, and copies into Confluence. It's quite immature in development, so not necessarily feature complete, but some folks at #longhornphp asked about it, so here it is! ➡️ https://github.com/Roave/DocBookTool
Had an absolute blast again running #LonghornPHP this year! As much as I joked about how I neither live in Austin (or even Texas anymore) nor do PHP anymore, I still love being a part of this community and wouldn't trade it for anything.
Huge thanks to all the folks who bought a ticket and came to the conference, the amazing speakers for all their hard work, and our sponsors for helping make it possible!!
I spread the gospel of #CaptainHookPHP at #LonghornPHP this weekend. Lots of folks sounded really interested in checking it out after I mentioned it in my “Let’s Build A Composer Package” workshop.
Many thanks to @editor, @zend, Ziff Davis, Follow Up Boss, Ring Central Developers, @sensiolabs, Civo, Geocodio, Nomad PHP, @omnicolor, Remote Dev Force, Zeek, JetBrains, PHP Town Hall, and @phpstan.
Y’all make it all possible. Thank you!
(If you work for these companies, and they don’t have a Fediverse presence yet, convince them to get one. 😁)
For folks who have not been to conferences for their chosen profession (PHP ones in my case), for me one of the things that helps cushion the feelings of missing out is seeing pictures of your friends hanging out and having a good time. None of them would be your friend without conferences. That’s why I sponsored the dinner for the speakers at #LonghornPHP — friends help friends become better friends. Maybe I will see some of you in Chicago for tek24?
A highlight of my #longhornphp experience was when @phpdudeaz arrived wearing a shirt with a quote by me 🤣 absolutely amazing, love it! (also @ramsey snuck into the photo haha)
That's a wrap on #longhornphp and what an excellent conference that is, met lots of great people and caught up with friends. Thank you so much @longhorn for having me speak! ❤️
After "In the Beginning Was the Feature Request" by @SandyS1 and "Building a Strong Remote Team" by @OGProgrammer, we have @SammyK closing out #longhornphp 2023 with...why he left tech.
Coming back from lunch, our next #longhornphp sessions are CVE 101: The Unfolding Of A Zero Day Attack by Theresa Mammarella, Machine Learning in PHP with RubixML by Mark Pruett, and What Does A Modern PHP Application Look Like? by @TimB0nd.
Also, make sure to vote for your preferred Open Spaces topic either near registration or in Discord by 2:30pm!
It's just about lunchtime at #longhornphp. Hop into either of the two serving lines in Hill Country B, or swing by registration if you preordered a special meal. Then grab a seat in Hill Country CD.
We'll have another set of Open Spaces proposals over lunch, after which voting will continue until 2:30pm.
Next up today at #longhornphp, starting in a few minutes: Passwords are Dead, Long live Passkeys! by @valorin, Learn To Succeed by @alena and Getting Started with Test-Driven Development by @scottkeckwarren.
I need to print out this quote from the #longhornPHP morning keynote by @funkatron and put it in every room of my house. Maybe if I saw it everywhere, I would stop being so mean to myself.
Next up we have "Unleashing Asynchronous PHP - Boost Performance with RabbitMQ and ReactPHP" by @flowcontrol, "What PHP developers need to know about JWTs" by @mooreds, and "A Full-Stack Developer's Guide to DevOps" by Kiah Tolliver at the final day of #longhornphp 2023
The final day of #longhornphp 2023 is underway with @funkatron opening with "Stronger Than Fear: Mental Health in the Tech Community." Tune in live at https://longhornphp.com/live; our keynote streams are free and open to the public.
