Conservative Electioneering

Interesting, Police Scotland announce charges and continuing investigations of ‘two other people’ to coincide with GE campaign and Police England one on Angela Rayner will finish before the GE.

I am unsure who will benefit more, Starmer or Sunak, the two S****s of Westminster society.

Vital point:

The date of the general election seems designed to disenfranchise young people as much as possible, since most university students who vote do so at their term-time address. Universities are in recess on 4 July & many students will be at their parents’ or between university accommodation. Please make sure anyone you know in this situation registers at an appropriate address, preferably with a postal vote.

@ChrisMayLA6 ahh but at least they have been called outside of school@holidays. Scotland… whops, don’t worry parents won’t be voting Tory there.

So, just to be clear, if the Tories lose the election (which seems likely) and Labour then decide not to continue the policy of deportation to Rwanda... what happens to all the money (over £200m) so far transferred to Rwanda?

Can we expect a claw-back or should we just add it to the growing pile of money the Tories threw away (or more accurately thew to their mates)?

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@ChrisMayLA6 of course not. No refundable if theRwandan lawyers have done their job properly

So…I hadn’t realised quite how much my old hearing aids had deteriorated until I got fitted with my new non-Bluetooth hearing aids today. It was a revelation!

I had been struggling for at least a year. Every conversation I had was at the edge of my hearing ability except those with my partner and son (very loud!). It wasn’t my ears that had got deafer…because my hearing test was almost identical to 3 yrs ago. Hearing aids do loose power over time.

But it’s amazing hearing clearly again!

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@JugglingWithEggs there’s lots of evidence to support the problems tha hearing loss bring. Get those tests/support in place.

My wife has put on weight and I’m no longer attracted to her. What should I do?

"Attraction waning is one thing. But don’t confuse that for a moral insight about your wife. If you cannot separate those feelings, you’d do her a kindness by leaving. But you may regret the conflation of appearance and moral value once your own body begins to change under you."

This is kind of important. He makes a moral judgement on her as she ages.

Most men leave their wives if they get cancer. (despite tv tropes of the grieving sensitive man) Most wives stay till the end.

Just stay away from them. At 48 I can say it doesnt matter how beautiful, skinny, or smart you are. Deep down they hate us. Especially if you get fat or sick.

In the same week that Scotland's latest census data indicated that 66% of our population identifies exclusively as Scottish and only 14% as exclusively British, #Captain_UTurn launches the UK Labour campaign festooned in union flags.

Will the "patriotic" union flag shagging be a feature of "Labour" campaigning in #Scotland?

@Thebratdragon @therightarticle careful to rely on people not remembering that even as inflation has fallen,e prices for staples are much higher than before these eejits got into power.

They can’t have it both ways. Are they responsible for the drop while simultaneously (ir)responsible for the rises?

@AnthonyFStevens @soren @CloudyMrs I am glad. But listen to Starmer for other examples.

https://www.thenational.scot/news/19884897.labour-explain-keir-starmer-will-settle-independence-without-indyref2/

We are might pissed off that Labour stood by. Actually collaborated on Article 50. Other examples are available.

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@AnthonyFStevens @CloudyMrs @soren ahh you have got to the point. Scotland is a different country, but what England gets, Scotland has to lump. We are in general a more communitarian, gently left country. Domination from another country, be it on Brexit, social care or even just the removal of resources is not acceptable.

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@Theriac @AnthonyFStevens @CloudyMrs @soren well said. Too much gets assumed south of the border. Arrogance and ignorance.

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@Theriac @AnthonyFStevens @CloudyMrs @soren oh and add in a separate legal system…

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@AnthonyFStevens @Theriac @CloudyMrs @soren those most clearly don’t include the Labour Party,…

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@hengymrohebwlad @Theriac @AnthonyFStevens @CloudyMrs @soren if they could give Scotland away but retain the resources I am sure they would be quite content.

People might not remember but England unilaterally redrew boundaries for fossil fuel exploitation before devolution under Blair, and those resources still in Scottish waters were derided as worthless during the referendum campaign. And now….

As to the McCrone report, I won’t go there.

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@AnthonyFStevens @Theriac @CloudyMrs @soren 90% of it comes down to resources - power and water. The rest is prestige and grouse moors.

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@AnthonyFStevens @Theriac @CloudyMrs @soren I might believe you if it was not for the general conversation about independence a few years ago. Did you miss it?

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@AnthonyFStevens @Theriac @CloudyMrs @soren surely you came across Labour MPs campaigning for the union?

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@AnthonyFStevens @Theriac @CloudyMrs @soren btw - what constitutional nightmare? Yes lots of technical untangling, but as Scotland has a separate legal system..

Wen,
@Wen@mastodon.scot avatar

@AnthonyFStevens @Theriac @CloudyMrs @soren you should catch up with the derailed proposals the Scottish government put up against ‘project fear’. The Unionist objections were almost as risible as the Brexit campaign.
