When Lopa the vixen retreats to the rooftops (see yesterday's post https://social.vivaldi.net/@Words/111434374846758803 ), this is who she is escaping. He's a youngish male called Stripe. Some of the time they get on fine together, but at other times she seems very wary of him. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

I missed her yesterday, but Lopa the vixen was back this evening. There was a second fox around (lurking) so she headed for the higher ground, which in our case is the garage roof. She feels much safer there and can head on up to the apex of the tiled roof if she feels the need. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Here's Lopa taking guard in the garden last night, protecting her domain. At least I think that's what she's doing. With foxes you never can really tell. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

I took this one a couple of nights ago. It's Lopa (of course) standing tall on the steps near our back door. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Here's a very pretty portrait of the lovely Lopa taken last night. Ain't she sweet! http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Things seem to be returning to normal now that we've had a few days of calmer weather. Lopa has been around a couple of times this evening and here she is standing at the top of our garden steps. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

It's time for another photo of Lopa the vixen. Nothing from today (yet) so this is from a week or so ago. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Well we seem to have survived the recent storms without any damage, and the foxes have emerged from wherever they were sheltering. Lopa was around earlier but this is the new fox on the block who I'm calling Nick (he has a slight nick on his left ear). http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Getting ready here for Storm Ciaran. Hopefully the foxes have found some good shelter (I don't expect to see them tonight). This is Lopa from a week ago when things were altogether quieter. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Lopa was back this evening and kindly posed for a portrait photo. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

@thepoliticalcat We have lots of foxes locally and they come and go as they please. Most are fairly shy but Lopa's been around ever since she was a cub so she's just very used to us.

It's rain and more rain at the moment, but we did have a dry day earlier in the week which is when I took this photo of Lopa the vixen. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Here's Lopa standing on the steps outside our back door. She's got a good view of the house from there and can watch us coming and going. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Well Lopa the vixen was back again last night looking bright-eyed and lively despite the rain. Here she is stretching on the steps and keeping an ear open for any other lurking foxes. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

A small flock of blue tits visited our garden today and feasted on the hawthorn berries.

I've been somewhat erratic with my posting over the past week or so, but that simply matches the foxes who have been equally erratic. So much so that this complete stranger showed up last night. He's quite bold (not as bold as Lopa but much more confident than Stripe) and calmly sat and watched us for a while. It will be interesting to see if he comes back and how Queen Lopa deals with him. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Another one of Lopa from the summer. In this one she's sitting at the back of the garden by a compost heap that's become overgrown with weeds. It's a good source of insects and grubs so she does quite well by hanging out there. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

I've been looking through photos from the summer and came across this really pretty one of Lopa the vixen enjoying the sunshine. It makes a change from all the rain we've been having this week. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Nothing but wind and rain today so I've not seen the foxes. This one is from a few days ago now when Lopa reappeared after a temporary absence. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Lopa the vixen on one of her late night prowls through the garden. I must tidy up those slabs! http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

After an absence of almost a week, Lopa was back last night and again this afternoon. Whatever we had done to offend her has been forgiven. Here's a portrait from last night, and a second photo from her daytime visit which she shared with a couple of magpies. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

I had a brief glimpse of a fox earlier today but it was gone before I could train the camera on it. There's a clear change in behaviour as the foxes start to prepare for the winter breeding season. Today's pic was taken a few weeks ago when everything was still calm. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/

Lots of rain again tonight and so far no visible sign of Lopa the vixen - though we did here some fox barking nearby. Here's one from early August when we had plenty of warm sunshine and she was enjoying relaxing in the garden during the day. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/
