I just finished for the day and suddenly I’m very tired. That’s not good, it’s only Monday!!

For once, resistance wasn’t futile, it was surprisingly successful. I didn’t buy any treats, only some bread buns.

Out for with in my pocket, as one does in Canada at this time of year.

@ottaross ahhh we went out for this morning too. Sugar overload.

@thelinuxEXP @tlenewspodcast “one person at nvidia thinks coding is dead, because that would help his bottom line”.

@tcatsuko Same here, my Brother doesn't have the best print quality these days, but it's still reliable and was cheap-ish to buy and maintain.

I've read a lot online about how "Y2K was overblown". As an engineer who worked like crazy in 1999 to correct our systems this drives me crazy.

Today I read about games going offline, watches getting frozen and airline tickets showing the wrong date.

Because of a leap year. Which happens every FOUR years (give or take).

Yeah Y2K was a one time thing. (Well at least until year 10000)

Isn't 2038 going to be fun.

YurkshireLad,
@YurkshireLad@mastodon.social avatar

@damieng Y2K wasn't an issue BECAUSE we worked our butts of making sure everything worked. People don't understand that, but these days, many people are trained not to practice rational thinking, thanks to people like trump.

Hoping my local friends in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec are waking up to warm homes and didn't lose power overnight.

The wild winds eventually faded away and we are back to normal winter cold, albeit without much snow left.

@ottaross No loss of power here, thankfully. It was comical watching the black recycling boxes sliding and rolling down the street last night. I'm sure the houses facing the end of our street have a large collection of black boxes, paper and cardboard in their front yard.

Windows security updates could come with fewer reboots beginning later this year

"Hotpatching" originated in Windows Server, cuts way down on update reboots.

@AndorianSoup @rugby I love that someone of Capuozzo’s stature can still play rugby at this level. There has to always be a place for small, athletic and agile players.

@AndorianSoup @rugby Josh Hodge is a similar player I love to watch. I’m glad he got picked in the England A squad.

This morning I almost got hit by an driver on my street who wasn’t paying attention and I had to jump back because they didn’t notice me. Then when I waved my arms at them in frustration they got mad at me.

A scary and not fun way to start the day.

YurkshireLad,
@YurkshireLad@mastodon.social avatar

@siobhanwanders that sucks. Someone almost reversed into me as I was walking behind them. They only stopped when I banged on their rear window. He was probably using his phone and not bothering with his mirrors or backup camera.
