@nofaith I know, and being active on multiple platforms makes it all the more complicated...

Good morning, everyone! Any special plans for today?

@WeavingWithAI Good morning!

I'm on my way home after work and am looking forward to a day with my family and a dinner with an old friend in the evening.

What are you up to?

boringold,
@boringold@genart.social avatar

@WeavingWithAI I just started my day, too, when I wrote—I've finished being 24 hours on call in hospital this morning. I live in Germany, so we should be in the same time zone.

boringold,
@boringold@genart.social avatar

@WeavingWithAI I hope you get some sleep! It seems that now that summer is over, it's the time of the year again when there's a sick kid in the family almost always. I have three, and they usually take turns until everyone has had whatever took down the first one. Most often, my girlfriend and I are part of this, too.😅

boringold,
@boringold@genart.social avatar

@WeavingWithAI Ah, I see, but no, that was just what I'm looking forward to do this evening.😅

1/4 Sometimes the artworks that captivate my attention come along inconspicuously and touch me unexpectedly.

human in search of himself by Aida immediately caught my eye.

#4 (in my collection)
(in my collection)

Abstract digital image of a tall faceless figure at the bottom of a dreamlike black and white landscape of hills. In the distance, a burst of pixelated red and orange is reminiscent of an exploding sun.

@boringold@genart.social avatar

2/4 Featureless human figures seem to be lost in colourless, surreal landscapes of striped, rolling hills. In the distance, sky and mountain slopes appear to be on fire with rough, pixelated outbursts of red and orange, while glitch–like pixel noise covers part of the images.

This looks great (and reminds me of a mix of artworks by Nate Hill and Juan Zapata), and also makes me wonder about a number of things the artist might have wanted to imply.

3/4 The figures we see might represent humans in general (despite the gendered pronoun) and, in conclusion, all of us in search of ourselves—as mentioned in the artwork’s title. Since they are depicted as faceless silhouettes, we can only guess where they are looking: towards the fiery pixel clouds in the distance, or away from them, towards us.

4/4 If they look towards the horizon, the colourful outbursts appear as symbols of art, creativity and emotion, while seeing the figures look towards us, the observer, might hint that the answer (and consequently, the key to our true selves) lies right here: in each of us alone.

And does it help or hinder our search that at least parts of the layers seem to be AI–generated? You decide.

Another pairing from my collection:

Do You Remember? by Christian Cambas (on ) and The muon in the hole by @uluiq12 (on )

Funny enough, these artworks appeared next to each other on my local drive. Probably the poor slob tried to silence some occult knowledge with more drinks than he could manage and ended up having confusing nightmares.

Despite the flood of low–effort contributions to @zero________one, there are undeniable gems to be found. And for whatever reason, the artworks I collect there seem to magically pair themselves into sets of matching styles or colours where even the subjects fit.

Just look at this beautiful pink party!

After I minted two iterations of Power Ranges by @ccddbb some time ago, I wanted to share them and was looking for the right artwork to pair one of them with, but eventually forgot. That's quite a pity, since I like the abstract, colourful images a lot.

Now that the artist themselves has minted the remaining iterations and gave them to previous collectors, a have a nice set that shines on it's own.

Thank you, CCDDBB!

1/ Many of the artworks that fascinated me on recently deal with abstract interpretations of nature and our interactions with it.

Others explore human experiences, technology or digital art itself.

Here's part 2 of this thread!

24/ Sadok by @olga_f2727

Inspired by time spent in a remote village, the generation of some of the images in live view resembles plant growth on a piece of earth in time lapse.

27/ Some look like a tunnel, some like waves collapsing in on themselves.

The overall feeling is ethereal, yet somewhat claustrophobic—maybe in resemblance of what the artist felt like while in class?

26/ Schola by https://twitter.com/0xSurofi

Fascinating recreations of the artist's habit of filling the pages of their notebooks at school with endless scribbles of black circles.

A abstract circle reaching the edge of the canvas, reminiscent of a swirl of layered black wire on a light beige background.

29/ Most remarkable: the way the art slowly emerges in live view, with structure emerging from the noise not continuously, but in stages.

28/ θ by @wunhanfan

Fascinating images that remind me of faded blueprints of strange organisms, exploring the nature of the ghost inside the machine who sits at the center of the algorithm and calculates the incalculable, measures elusive patterns, and traces the vortex of ever-flowing boundaries.

30/ Out With the Old, In With the New by @munich_mw

A fictional room full of memories and memorabilia. The process of sorting out, of reliving the memories, and of adding new items of personal significance to it, represented by tightly packed lines.

31/ We might mistake the outputs of this project to be just bars and layers, arranged in rectagular or diagonal fashion.

But then, we notice outputs with curves and swirls, and we start to wonder: what memories does this virtual attic hold for us?

32/ EDNŌ by @pointline_

Monochromatic and minimal, this project's slow movements show the same slo-mo majesty as the flying debris from the end scene of the movie the artist cites as an inspiration (Michelangelo Antonioni's 1970 Zabriskie Point).

33/ Part of the iterations show a visual confinement, others don't. After the explosion took place, a contemplative question remains: would you prefer to find yourself contained within the box or liberated beyond its confines?

35/ I had lots of fun exploring these projects, and for the next part of this thread, I'll focus on some awesome AI art and non–generative works.

What do you think, are threads on microblogging platforms the right format for this? It certainly feels clumsy, but I feel like only a few people would read an article on fx(text) or a blog post somewhere with the same content.

Anyway, have a great weekend!
