This is a probably kinda hardcore RPG theory thread on Emulation.

Emulation is generally used in the sense of imitation, sometimes as in "This is a [genre] game" and other times as in "This is the RPG for that show"; the game imitates features of the genre, media, or other thing in question.

@LeviKornelsen when you say emulation are you referring to systems like Knave that seek to replicate the baseline experience of other systems? when you say genre emulation what distinguishes that from just regular ol' genre? i'm not trying to be obtuse or anything, just trying to understand better.

i swear, people literally don't know how to think. did i need to be cc'd to the accountant on the email that confirms the check they owe me from 2017 has been cut and sent (this was supposed to happen last month)? no. but i was! this is now the SIXTH fucking email i've got about this situation.

"I know we cut the check" says the email. But obviously, no you don't KNOW that, do you? or else why would you need to confirm with the accountant. that's not what knowing is.
