A quick note, per recent toots I've seen from folks, I am trying to slap all the hashtags to the end of my posts. This is intended to be more helpful for folks with screen readers than having your hashtags intermixed into the toot.

I am a huge culprit for this in the past, so I am actively trying to be aware of this kind of formatting issue going forward.

@mdmrn there were a lot of replies from users of screen readers saying it was not as big an issue and will depend on the person as well as how they configure their reader. We should be looking at what those impacted are saying, not just what others say is impacting them.

Many even stated they do it as doing so allows for more to be entered into a message rather than dedicating a chunk of the character count to tags at the end.

@ivory not sure if this is in the works but would it be possible to have the new tag selector match previously used case? I use camel case so it's easier for folks to read and am having to manually edit tags to put it back in. The only caps it appears to be keeping is if the entire tag was in caps

it's odd to me how much of my japanese learning doesn't really go in an order that helps me remember things.

I'm reviewing for my exam tomorrow and a term we've learned is (without kanji as we've not learned that one yet) あるいて - on foot. but seeing it just like that is really hard for me to remember. I looked it up and it's 歩いて, with that first kanji being the counter for steps, so now I have an association with "walking" for this word that helps me an awful lot.

things like this keep coming up, like learning お腹が空く (to get hungry) before learning お腹 (stomach) and I'm noticing how this impacts how I learn.

Not the worst but interesting.

On Friday, I participated in a small Standard format Magic: The Gathering tournament at my local hobby shop. (7 people!)

I literally threw the deck together the day of.

To absolutely no one's surprise, it wasn't particularly good. I came in 6th of 7, but only because I got a bye round. 😅

The closest I came to winning was in a third match that was played just for fun after losing the first two, but that was interrupted by the end of the round. 😂

@LadyMarth01 casual MTG can be so nice. I like the game but not the having to invest a lot of money to play competitively.

@penfount Noodler's Blue Upon the Plains of Abraham. A beautiful dusty blue, but no matter the pen it's in, it's the wettest ink I’ve ever used and is very prone to feathering on papers I've never had feathering before.

also if anyone is able to help me add webmention support so I can use https://brid.gy, that would be awesome. Everything I'm finding talks about setting up server side stuff (which I can't do with my current hosting), the already hosted stuff doesn't support mastodon and I'd just love an easy solution lmao

@anianimalsmoe I’d tried setting that up but they only accept GitHub, Twitter, or email (which needs its own server stuff set up) unfortunately. Eleventy has plugins but they all expect you to have access to the server you’re using which I do not have the necessary access for. https://glitch.com/~cellar-door was the closest I could find for verification but I lack some technical know how for how to get it working haha

@turgon I try not to involve myself too much with those discussions because many are very collector focused and about accumulating more than you need. I've been using the same 2 pens for 5-6 years now? yet to finish a single bottle of ink lol

And that's a wrap on Rabi-Ribi. Cool little metroidvania with a whole lot going on. It didn't all land for me but it was fun to play until the boss endurance run at the end. Tried out the post-game and noped out in a hurry.

looks like it might be because of openssl but heck if I know what to do about that. maybe I should check out things that don't have this seemingly broken for me dependency. it'd be cool if there were an option that didn't require command line at all and just... worked
