    friends: I've heard that the Pilot MR/Metropolitian in Europe uses the international standard converter. is there a good way for me to get that in the US? Bonus points if the plain silver one is available this way.

    @timelordiroh you can get them online most places, like goulet pens or jet pens or goldspot. always good to have a few handy as that's a very common size

    I've had a few Mastodon accounts. One of them seemed to run its course, so it's done. Keeping up with this one. May create another later, and this is what makes the Fediverse so good: identities are weaker, shorter-lived; you can be yourself or just pick a name and go. It feels the old net again.

    family: When you have a cartridge/converter pen, do you prefer using a converter or a reusable cartridge?

    I've generally found converters to be more kind to me, i don't need to have anything extra to fill it up and cleaning it is very simple.

    @timelordiroh converters are easier, but I have a syringe and can refill cartridges. I've got a couple older pens with cartridge sizes I don't have converters for, too.

    @ernie unsure. the SPAC basically handed him billions of dollars in prospective value via stock. he can lose nearly all of that in stock price terms and still personally cash out positive. meanwhile the company itself may run at a loss but it now has a massive cash reservoir so brace for a few more years of "truth"

    I might be wrong due to unfamiliarity with SPACs and lots of unclear reporting on amounts and ownership and details, but that's my read

    It's weird to me why companies like Uber or Airbnb or Spotify are considered "tech companies".

    What tech do they develop? Their own app & website? By that logic any modern business is a tech company.

    Hell, even schools or libraries have websites and apps. Are they tech companies? Of course not. It just makes no sense.

    Uber does taxis. Airbnb does amateur hotels. Spotify does music. The fact they use tech to make that happen doesn't matter, literally everyone does that in the 21st century.

    @Tijn tbh it's probably just how the companies operate. they incorporate as app builders and take a lot of vc cash and make no profits for years like pre 2010 tech companies did
