I went to an early screening of last night. I thought the movie was a bit uneven, in that there were dialogue scenes and then there were action scenes, and they never seemed to mesh.

The best things about the movie are and , who are both really good and have great chemistry together. I also enjoyed seeing as well as in what was to me a surprising role. /1

As you'd expect, the stunt scenes are often over the top. I do like me the stunts, but they can be outlandish when not in service to story. I've felt that way about the more recent "Fast and Furious" films, and I felt that a few times during this film.

There are particular gender depictions that I really disliked and that I found disappointing in a film, especially with those two particular leads. /2

I appreciated the nods to a particular favorite song of mine as well as a favorite TV show from the past. Yes, I'm being vague to avoid spoilers. And I laughed pretty hard at a well-placed use of a more recent popular song from a very famous singer/songwriter.

You'll want to stay until they turn the projector off because during the main credits, they show a lot of behind-the-scenes footage of them shooting the stunts. /3

While I appreciate the attention they're given, I thought it was ironic that they didn't just show them on their own, but rather, in watching the footage, you're missing out on seeing their names in the actual credits.

And, after the main portion of the credits, there is another scene you won't want to miss, and you'll even want to stay for the rest of the credits after that to enjoy a cover of a particular song. /4 end

We made our first visit to last night, right before official opening day today.

We started with an amuse bouche that included corn tortillas (which were underneath the folded napkin, and which I apparently didn't think to take a picture of). I really liked them, and they were sort of multi-colored patchwork quilt - very cool. The cheese was really good, as was the salsa and black bean spread. /1

We shared the Yucatan ceviche, which I really liked. Really nice flavor. The presentation of the chips were really interesting - the beans are just to keep the chips upright.

I really enjoyed the octopus, and I liked the ahi / root vegetable confit, but warning that it's got quite a bit of heat. /2

A friend and I shared the whole fried red snapper. Doesn't it look amazing? There were fried fish pieces too, but I really enjoyed the fried "bones" part. And the sauces and slaw were really good too.

The husband had the lamb barbacoa and really enjoyed it. I had a taste, and it was really good.

Brussel sprouts, of course, were tasty. /3

We tried all three desserts. My favorite was the mango ice cream with chamoy and watermelon cubes, but the other two chocolate-y desserts were really good too. The "corn cob" is actually molded white chocolate colored to look like corn. I'm not a fan of white chocolate, but it looked cool.

Looking forward to future visits to try more things. We also toured the restaurant, and they've done a great job with the decor and the gorgeous views of . /4 end

She's getting absolutely dragged for running in a race she didn't pay for and then using it for content to promote her brand / business.

She says if she runs again, she'll look up the rules. She claims to have run a half marathon in Austin last year. She knows you have to pay to run in races.

In another post, she also complains how expensive lattes are and wonders how people are supposed to exist in that kind of tyranny.

I hadn't previously noticed this wait time board in before, located in the seating area sort of between Star Traders and Space Mountain. Not sure how long it's been there.

So the building previously known as the in sits empty. For , wouldn't it have been cool if they'd used the theatre to show shorts, to honor the legacy and beginning of the company? 1/2

We did wander over to the for a bit to check out the , and it appears that in between dance party segments, they show shorts. (With my luck, the short they showed while I was sitting there was Bao. 🙄 Yep, I left.)

But it would be cool to have a dedicated space just showing the shorts in succession for folks to enjoy. 2/2

The husband wanted the , so we picked that up from where it comes with bread sticks instead of popcorn. It is super cute and incredibly detailed, even on the strap. Great job.

Tried the cosmic chili pasta (jalapeno-cheddar pinwheel pasta, spiced chili, crushed corn chips and green onions) from today. Very simple but I really liked it. Little bit of heat in the sauce but not too bad. I think it's odd to call it pinwheel pasta cause I'd call them wagon wheels, which would seem to go better with theming to Woody, but ok.

Was trying to mobile order from today and got a glitch. Notice it was 12:49pm at the time, and the return time was within the next 10 hours. 😳 Even weirder considering they changed the return window to only 15 minutes not that long ago. But it didn't process my order, so I had to try again.

Some of the fun things I saw today at the , which we visited today to celebrate a friend's birthday. I didn't take a lot of pictures but just enjoyed hanging out with a bunch of friends. All the various hills did also give me a good workout. 1/3

Applicable in way too many situations. Empathy seems to be missing. I will admit that I've come across situations that I didn't understand and sometimes found hard to believe. I was usually just incredulous that the situation could happen. People should have an understanding of things not just from their own personal experiences. If you don't care about something until it happens to you, then that's a problem. I'm continually trying to learn. I'm not always good at it, but I keep trying.

I saw an early access screening of last night. It was an interesting story idea. I wasn't too keen on the constant time jumps, though I get what they were going for. It was really cool to see in a role that's very different from what she's known for, though I admit I haven't seen Euphoria yet.

And, I figured out one of the plot points before it happened, which is fairly unusual for me! 1/2

My one complaint is with the music - not the type of music, but the volume. In multiple scenes, the music is so loud that it's no longer background music and makes it very difficult to hear fairly important conversations between main characters. What is the purpose in that? It's just disruptive and unnecessary and to me, served as a detriment to understanding the actors in the film. 2/2
