I'd love to see some examples of sites that have embraced container queries in different ways (because I want my layouts and components to be heading in that direction and be less viewport-dependent). Any good examples out there yet?
I need a good new podcast. Preferably one that is web related, but really pretty open. I had a nice, maybe overly full one developing during football season, but now I am feeling the emptiness... Suggestions?
@bkardell I just finished Things Fell Apart S2. The first season is about "the culture wars" and how they happen. S2 is about how one small misunderstanding turns into a giant misunderstanding.
whoever settled on the strategy of campaign fundraising texts sent from a different number each time: i just want you to know i’ve decided to switch my political affiliation to Martian
I'm currently pushing the idea that our component library's tests should be a separate package (in a monorepo), so we're testing the real built version of the library, and also the package.json exports.
Folks are a little uncomfortable that the component's tests are in a different folder to the implementation.
Is there a solution to this that isn't… very hacky?
After many walks and many chores I am at Podcast: Zero and Audiobook: Zero. If you read or listened to a good book recently I’d love to know, but in the meantime I’ll bask in this unfamiliar feeling.
Genuinely curious: what’s the point in developer advocacy or developer relations work if the parent company requires radio silence during periods of extreme criticism, facing backlash for the company’s direction and decisions?
Shouldn’t this be the moment in which your team are most useful?
@zachleat I sort of assume any devrel/employee who understands their community has been wrong by the parent company is probably barred from speaking (by legal) and has switched to internal fighting mode. That might be giving too much credit but people who care about users/people can't flippantly turn it off.
My wife and her friends were talking about how cute Harry Styles is but he’s too young, yada yada. So I opened up a terminal, asked “Hey Siri, how old is Harry Styles?” and ran the command say “sixteen years old” and it was perfect.
📝 It's often said, "UI is a function of state" and I pulled on that thread and listed every possible piece of state that can impact the UI that I could think of.
@bramus Do CSS Highlights support bold/italic? I saw those in your code but had a play and couldn't get it to work. MDN lists a stricter set of allowed properties. Is that changing?
Chromium’s new bug tracker on my 13″ laptop after zooming in to 133% because the font-size is 13px. The main scrollable area takes up only 25% of the viewport (I checked). This is not good. Not everyone reports bugs on giant monitors.
Watched a Vision Pro review that said “You gotta cut Apple some slack…” and… what? Cut a four thousand dollar device by a three trillion dollar company some slack!?
