I'm fully aware of the pretentiousness of this attitude, but I can't help it.

I have a difficult time taking you and your mullet seriously. Especially if you have a mustache (and or mutton chops), which almost inevitably does not work on your face. Add to that a big trucker hat, and I won't be able to look you in the face without wondering how many broken down vehicles you have parked in front of your RV, which hasn't moved in twelve years.

@Mrfunkedude That is one thing that the Owncast and Peertube documentation could be a bit more vocal about. Streaming using your home connection really limits your viewership if you don't set it up to utilize something like Amazon S3 or Backblaze.

I figured that out the hard way.

here's a few reasons why USGOV is trying to swipe under the rug the consequences of (re)infections:

  1. LABOR LAWS would have to change to make sure employers not only provide more sick days but pay for them

  2. INSURANCE COMPANIES would have to start "connecting the dots" of pre-existing conditions caused by COVID and other viruses like the FLU

  3. OSHA/BUILDING CODES would need to be re-written to deal with AIR CIRCULATION challenges to health... 🧵

@blogdiva Yup. Covid negatively impacted the bottom lines of lots of big companies, and their lackies in congress have been working very hard at mitigating that. In this country, if you're not wealthy, you don't matter.

Can anyone point to a good resource on how to be a better parent to an autistic adult?

I really feel like I'm swimming in circles and I'm not always sure I'm being the advocate and support that she needs me to be.

Any help from other parents of autistic adults is welcome. If you're not autistic or the parent of someone who is, please don't comment.

@Mrfunkedude Our youngest is autistic. He's inching up on twenty-two years old. He was diagnosed when he was eight or nine years old.

Edit: didn't mean to hit "publish".

Anyway, it's tough at times, other times we feel like we're doing pretty well. He has a very difficult time making friends, and while he seems to be perfectly okay with that, we're not so sure he is. There isn't much we can do to help him out there, and that really bothers us both.

@Mrfunkedude General life skills take a long time for him to acquire, and while he is making progress, we have our doubts that he'll ever be fully self-sufficient.

He's held down a full time job, which he really likes, for several years now, and is starting to get a handle on budgeting. We've started charging him "rent", which actually just goes into a separate savings account for him, which he doesn't know about yet. It's sort of a nest egg for if he does launch.
