I use a fork of Mastodon client in Android and it seems upstream has brought in contemporary UI expertise from the industry to make things harder. (Haven't verified, so keep that bowl of salt handy)

Saving an image/video was one tap when media was open, now it's a click, a swipe and another click away.

I like to imagine an older me cherishing these motorcycle riding videos, hopefully glad I spent the money and effort to make them. That guy is my primary audience 😬, but if anyone else gets something out of them, even better!

@purplepadma on an average, there's 3-4 cats who choose to sleep on me, above the blanket - that's somewhere between 12 to 18kg 😆

My anxiety is getting crushed under that weight!

@Deus hehe, I'm learning, grew up with cats so have basic training, but with so many, there's always rough edges. There are days when I'm too overwhelmed by the responsibilities, but that's I suppose the real learning: to take care of them regardless.

And cuteness has nothing to do with it, as I've come to understand, spend the effort to earn their trust - that's where the magic happens. With half/feral cats it's more work because they don't depend on you.

Hydroponics is the bitcoin of agriculture.

It's a science experiment to grow plants on life support, everyone interested should try it, but it's not how we'll feed the world. The energy, maintenance and expertise costs will remain not worth it until life support is the only way left to grow plants.

We're still far from that, and, growing plants and trees in the ground will nudge the chance of worsening climate further away.

Riding towards Kodaikanal town and I'm shook. Much of the forest is now ashes. Forest guards are finally here with fire management teams, only took two weeks of raging fires to get their attention?

Sigh.

What's remaining is very much at risk until monsoons put an end to this rampage.

Same spot as last one, when I rode back home.

I'm hearing that the locals have burned down the forest in retaliation for forest authorities introducing more wildlife here.

Go figure. These are the people I share the space with 😆 Hell, I'm in the wrong place with intent to protect biodiversity.

This is when I want to use the capitalist learnings from earlier career and acquire as much land as possible, bring private guards and keep arsonists in check on that land. Wildlife cam roam free. If only I had the resources. If I see no future where people accept sharing space with wildlife, then we must be the highest bidders to carve out that space and enforce security that forest authorities are unable to.

One can dream, even during a nightmare.

As the wind dies down, the smoke from smoldering logs around the hill settles into the valley, forming a thick cloud. This is the 4th day we'll be breathing smoke all night. It clears up when wind picks up again in the day.

All because slash and burn agriculture is still a thing and humans are #&%§∆.

Heh, I had not touched my big camera for months. But had to pull it out of hibernation to get these shots, mobile camera cannot be able to 😬

Took a few quick shots without much attention to quality, didn't feel like standing in the smoke outside.

Now that it's out, will use it more :)
