Woah! The community Slack has passed 10,000 members! Shout outs to Mark Cassidy, Jason Wilkerson, Kamruz Jaman, Marek Musielak, Tamas Tarnok, Akshay Sura, Michael West, and Mike Reynolds for all the efforts over the years to build up and manage the Slack community and create this place where people can get help at any time of the day from all around the world. Ran a session for the kids today and had a blast with them! Youngest decided they wanted to build a cage to trap the enemies and then scare them into it and slam the door closed.

This is where you just say "rules away" and let awesome happen. I told them two full turns, with assistance, to build something basic. The first two rounds they hid and worked on it so others got to have fun, but in the end they got to have the big payoff and huge smiles!

Nice to play with open gameplay!

There are two things I have always found challenging when building interconnected systems: time zones and caching! I found this article by David Austin that really dove into the caching layers in Vercel's Edge Cache and using the Cache-Control header to adjust.

"I feel like a lot of the ‘content’ we put into our messages is not actually about the core bullet points. It’s not about the crux of what we are saying or asking for. It’s about trying to create a sentiment and feeling for the reader that we can’t do with a simple list of bullets."

It’s about the space between the words.

For the last 3 sessions, the kiddos have just explored town, going to new shops, reading the books they buy, and decorating and fixing up their home. The paladin hummingbird is using its magical warhammer to put nails in the shelves they are building to hold all the books. Questing? What's that? 🤣😂

"It seemed impossible, but Thora could swear that the sounds of battle were still somewhere in the air, as if very far away. There were screams and shrieks. Quiet, muffled, but there. The part of Thora that wanted to live was saying that friends needed help, that this was no time to be laying about. A mental image of drill sergeant Kalnok shouting “GET UP SOLDIER!” caused the dwarf to smile. Still, Thora’s feet kept walking toward that light."

That wind out there is something else. And the temperature drop. 🥶

@shawnhooper I have my plastic bin out there for tomorrow's pickup... I wonder which part of the neighborhood it will have travelled to by morning!

@shawnhooper @johnefrancis I decided to play it safe and brought everything in. Standing in that wind was... uncomfortable.

I have finally entered my middle-aged cishet white male stereotype: I have a podcast!

Thanks to a great suggestion from on here, I decided to figure out how to create a podcast for those audiobook episodes I'm working on!

Now, I'll be able to publish to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and a whole bunch more!

" Light filled the cavern, brightly illuminating the strange-looking spider creature as they released a volley of arrows at it. Shrieking, the creature charged at them, many eyes reflecting the flames back at them as it closed the distance. Thora braced for the impact but suddenly the creature disappeared!"

The next chapter in my Thora Silentblade series is now available!

Today we're starting the next build: a Fender Stratocaster and amp! I am going to choose the red variant (black is also an option). Just over a thousand pieces for this one!

jasonstcyr,
@jasonstcyr@mstdn.ca avatar

Only time to get the first stage done: Guitar stand complete!

jasonstcyr,
@jasonstcyr@mstdn.ca avatar

Stage 2 of Fender Stratocaster complete! Fretboard and pickups now built, ready to start on the body now. Gold cube piece for scale.

jasonstcyr,
@jasonstcyr@mstdn.ca avatar

This was a big stage for the Fender Stratocaster as we built out the body, strap, knobs, tremolo, tuning pegs, and plating. Some nice branding work on here!

Too down photo showing the main body of the Lego Fender Stratocaster built out. Red body, Black/yellow/brown strap featuring Fender logo and pictures of Lego bricks. Tremolo bar is pretty neat addition

Finally got a chance to start in on the Fender amp portion of this build! Not sure what you call the coil mechanism at the bottom of the speaker frame?

A little more work done on the Fender amp. Installed the 'speaker' and built out a part of the casing.

What are folks thoughts on the new 3.0 module announced for alongside the WotC announcement? A patch came out in under 24 hours and quite a few new issues on the repo. Are folks waiting a bit for it to stabilize?

@erin I'm going to guess 1988?

This is based purely on the title and image look and feel, this FEELS like the ones I'm seeing online from the 80s. But the 1979, 1981, 1982 and 1984 ones that I found have "Road" and "Atlas" on separate lines, stacked. It's only the newer ones (starting in the 90s) that seem to use them on a single line, but the style then is very different.

@erin @Chigaze @chad I was so close! Congrats on getting it right @Chigaze!

Last week I shared a recipe about how to design your XM Cloud components, but how do you build the components? This developer guide walks you through the cloning process and then making that component available to your site. Need to make it available in XM Cloud editor features? Wondering about headless variants? Or which JSS field is needed for a specific type of Sitecore field? Take a dive into this recipe!

"We might as well have loaded the cargo hold with explosives. But it explains a lot. Cicero’s been hiding his powers his whole life, getting to old age by avoiding being hunted down and used by the corporations. At some point, Cicero decided to infiltrate Hyperion and take it down from the inside as payback for all the pain and suffering brought upon Sirens by the corp.

Vengeance. I can understand that."
