After hearing some discussion on this, I'm curious to gather some data. If you are interested in responding to a survey on the a la carte purchases on D&D Beyond, please consider filling this out.
Dungeons and Dragons folk: The Beyond Printing extension for Chromium based browsers seems to do a pretty solid job backing up your #DnDBeyond content if you're worried about #WotC / #Hasbro shenanigans.
Though I've been drifting away from #DND5e for a while now, it's still feels really weird to be completely uninterested in the latest releases. I mean, not even a twinge of FOMO.
I got my Kickstarter PDF copies of Tales of the Valiant from @KoboldPress. I am hoping this will replace #DnD5e for me. I cannot wait to ready the final version.
maybe this is a hot take, but i think having broad weapon proficiency makes sense for fighters and maybe monks.
pretty much every one else that gets weapon proficiencies should be choosing one or two weapons that they've trained with, and they should need to re-train over a week or more before being proficient with something else.
The two things that I personally feel have always been terrible about the design of #DnD are the class-based character development system and the Vancian magic system.
These systems irrationally limit the choices players can make in designing and developing their PCs, and TSR/WotC/Hasbro has missed so many opportunities to do away with these systems over the past 50 years.
But, they can be fixed, within the existing framework of #Dnd5E. (more)
The Helm of Positivity came into play during tonight's #ElementalApocalypse game, in which the paladin Valinor summoned a wall of radiance.
And damn, is that thing bright or what?
The shadows I'd planned to ambush the party with were forced to retreat from the brilliant light, which also revealed their original corpses in the nearby lake.
Those corpses - nicely pickled - led the group to suspect there is a black dragon lair nearby. #DnD#DnD5e#TTRPG#RPG#Greyhawk
@pteryx Agreed. My favorite #DnD5e monsters tend not to come from Wizards' books. My go-to books are Kobold Press' Tome of Beasts (volumes 1-3) and the Creature Codex. #Monsters
Not pictured: Marguerite then throwing a rotten turnip at said Mind Flayer, momentarily getting psychically dominated by it before managing to break free, hoisting two different party members over each shoulder and running the hell away while also doing a Kool-Aid Man on a door for the second time in about an hour in-universe, and managing to escape from goddamn Xanathar by the skin of our teeth.
New #THAC0wAdvantage today, where Ang and I talk about Sci-Fi elements in D&D, both historically, and what kind of tools you have in #DnD5e if you want to add it into your games now.
So y'all may or may not have noticed I haven’t been around on here as much, especially since Sunday. That's because I am now officially a paid app tester! I’m working on an app to make the #DnD5e character sheet accessible for blind players. It's amazing how fast a work-day goes when you're working in your #ActuallyAutistic#SpecialInterest! @actuallyautistic
Since the #OGL fiasco, I honestly considered quitting my Properties & Provinces #DnD5E project. In fact, I stopped developing it for about 6 months.
Now that the dust is settled, emotions are processed, and drive is somewhat restored, I've been working on it again and I'm currently developing my upcoming mass combat playtest.
Except, now it's evolved into a #5E rules expansion compatible with #DnD 2024, #A5E, and #BlackFlag. And reconciling all 3 rules variants is... Surprisingly nuanced. 👀
