@sam is starting a bike repair business in Smyrna, GA serving the Atlanta metro area. My wife just went on a 25 mile ride on her 15 year old Jamis road bike after Sam tuned it up and replaced the drive train. She said it road like new!

The Fedi community is large, but sparse. I’d really appreciate boosts so that cyclists near me have the best chance to see this.

I’m no Kickstarter expert, but as a silk supporter of #ProjectTapestry I’d offer this advice to the @Iconfactory folk: Create a $50 or $75 addon that gets you into an early access testflight, and more frequent (weekly?) testflight builds when you get into the thick of development and you’ll get more $ from me, and probably many like me.
@jswright61@Iconfactory I agree, there are plenty of people on Mastodon that have experience of alpha, beta , acceptance testing etc rather than people who treat a TestFlight as early access.
@PhilipKing@jswright61 the Cotton and Silk tiers already include TestFlight access. I see what you're saying about an "even earlier access" level, but honestly we don't have a big enough team to maintain and coordinate two separate pre-release tracks.

Their potential newapp will only get built if the Kickstarter gets funded. Currently at 44% of 100k. It’d be great if they hit 50% of their goal today, on day 1!

Early you theorized that in order for congress to be able to remove a disability, that candidate must be on the ballot - I find this a reasonable position.
My question is who is the next president should the following all occur.
Trump appears on enough ballots and wins sufficient Electoral College votes to be the next President.
It is decided (by whoever needs to decide) that he did engage in an insurrection
Congress fails to remove the disability

I was wondering about what would happen if, post election Trump was somehow barred from taking office. I guess it would be treated just like he died and the VP on the ticket would be sworn in as President.
@evacide You often rail against stalkerware and other technical issues that face people in, or escaping from, abusive relationships.I’d love to help on a local level (Atlanta, GA area). I’m very technical, but I have no specific training in this area.
I wonder if you have any specific recommendations on how to beef up my skill in this area and then connect with an organization focusing on this problem where I can volunteer and put these skills to use.
@jswright61 I recommend starting with some books about trauma and domestic abuse:
"Why Does He Do That?" by Lundy Bancroft.
"The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel van der Kolk.
"Helping Her Get Free" by Susan Brewster.
As long as you keep in mind that these books have a very hetero-normative bent and tend to cast men as the abusers and women as survivors and correct for that, these are a very good start for understanding how to effectively work with survivors of abuse.
@ivory I think bookmarks deserve another look by you, particularly on iPad & Mac where there’s more room, but even iPhone bookmarks could use some love.
I use the heck out of bookmarks (favs are for them, bookmarks for me) and I’d love to see a dedicated icon at the bottom of toots.
Also, I saw a boost of a toot I’d seen a while ago, which showed my previous fav. I went to bookmark it and it removed my previous bookmark - I shouldn’t be surprised by an action.
@jswright61 We plan to let the user customize which actions appear under a post in the future. As far as the bookmark getting removed, this is a weird Mastodon thing. We noticed bookmarks get removed after a certain amount of time.
@ivory thanks. Oodles of room for more glyphs on iPad and Mac, just sayin.
To clarify: I used a gesture to bookmark the toot because its bookmark state wasn’t visible. Since it was already bookmarked the gesture removed the bookmark. I did the gesture to put it back. Hard problem given phone screen size.
Me, I’d swap the settings glyph for a state displaying bookmarks glyph IF I could assign a gesture to settings.
Another idea short gesture to turn on bookmark and long gesture to turn off.
@ivory I love the alt button when viewing media full screen that has an alt description, and of course Talbots handled multiple media files attached to a toot perfectly.
My feature request: give me a setting to automatically show alt descriptions by default when viewing media.
Wish @ivory handled timeline position better.
Last night I caught up on my iPad. This morning I opened my phone to my mentions and read those. Then posted (still on mentions tab). When I went to my home timeline it was at the post last read on my phone - it hadn’t synced to last read from iPad.
Syncing is hard. I get it. Many, many edge cases.
I’d love it if tapping the top of the screen toggled between 3 spots
