People are criticizing Eli Erlick for openly distributing hormones and puberty blockers to minors, even if they support what she does, because you're supposed to keep that kind of thing a secret. On the contrary: openly breaking bad laws in order to help other people is one of the best ways to force the state onto the defensive and it constitutes a form of propaganda. Marijuana legalization activists proudly smoke in public, abortion rights activists in places where it's criminalized will proudly boast of distributing misoprostol. Kill the cop inside your head who says you should keep something secret when you're not doing anything wrong

I just saw someone make the argument that a war is not a genocide, in an attempt to contrast Gaza (war) from what happened in Rwanda (genocide)

But the thing is, what happened in Rwanda was also a war. The conflict started when the Rwandan Patriotic Front (led by Tutsi exiles who had been officers in the Ugandan Army immediately beforehand) attacked Rwanda from Uganda. It also culminated in a genocide of Tutsi civilians. Something can be more complicated than a totalitarian state just rounding up civilians who weren't doing anything to anyone and still be a genocide, in fact it's not even uncommon

@Doomed_Daniel yeah, there's definitely labels that are "automatic fash" labels, and then there's "at least fash-adjacent" labels...like are Forgotten Woods fash because they were on the same label as Absurd and Graveland? I don't know, but it makes them awful more suspicious

@CelloMomOnCars @pystykorva because the founders of the Ukrainian scene were Nokturnal Mortum, who were very explicit about their Nazism, metalheads need to be more careful about bands from Ukraine than even other countries
