Important perspective on latest Alito news from NYT’s Jodi Kantor.

This latest nose-thumbing is more than another symbol. That flag has become a symbol of Christian nationalism.

Why is this man still making decisions on the court? HE WROTE DOBBS. Where is Roberts??

Keep your seatbelts fastened. Snugly.

Another Boeing airplane (777 this time) exhibited a sudden altitude drop during turbulence over SE Asia. One passenger with a heart condition died; seven are in critical condition.

In March, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner lost elevation on a flight from Oz to NZ. Reportedly an uncovered cockpit switch was involved. Boeing “recommended that airlines inspect the cockpit seats the next time they perform maintenance on their 787s”.”

The Australia-New Zealand flight appears to be either a design flaw or poor quality build. I could not find current and official update.

We won’t know that this was intentional until there is an official report.

Airbus does not have a record of lousy quality NOR management like old MD executives.

So much for Zionism and Judaism being two different things.

Only 73.6% of Israeli population is Jewish. Only half are religious.

From Thomas Paine in 1791, wise words about the US Supreme Court:

“[A] body of men, holding themselves accountable to
nobody, ought not to be trusted
by anybody.“

Should Alito and Thomas recuse themselves from cases related to Nov 2020 election given their wives being involved in groups that claimed the election was stolen?

Yes.

Clarence Thomas is married to a woman who actively tried to overturn the 2020 election.

He refuses to recuse.

Samuel Alito is married to a woman he says flew the American flag outside their home upside down in January 2021, a symbol of Trump’s “stop the steal” BS.

He, too, refuses to recuse.

FINALLY.

The DOJ argued on Tuesday that Boeing has violated its 2021 agreement with the FAA that had shielded it from criminal prosecution over the deaths of 346 people due to two 737 Max creashes.

The violation was exposed with the door blowing out on takeoff from Portland in January.

A second Boeing whistleblower has died.

Joshua Dean, 45, of Wichita, KS died suddenly after two weeks in ICU. The quality auditor was deposed “in a shareholder lawsuit filed late last year.” He also filed a complaint with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Boeing whistleblower John Barnett, 62, died in March after giving a deposition about Boeing’s SC plant. He died of a gunshot wound. The police investigation into his death is ongoing.

The @WSJ headline implies students were manipulated by outsiders

It’s disinformation. Columbia University students ACTIVELY sought advice, researched prior protests.

Better:
Before launching protest, Columbia students consulted with external groups, researched historical university responses

FROM THE STORY, 4th graph:
“We took notes from our elders, engaged in dialogue with them and analyzed how the university responded to previous protests.”

kegill,
@kegill@mastodon.social avatar

Don’t get me started on that @WSJ “left-wing” pejorative.

The National Students for Justice in Palestine is a student group founded 21 years ago at UC Berkeley. They are “a loosely connected network of autonomous chapters … no prosecutor has ever brought charges against” them (NYT).

I ignored the headline Friday. I “read” the WSJ seldom; it’s part of Apple News. I gave up on the WSJ when Murdoch bought it.
