In full solidarity with Palestine protests on US campuses & appalled at the crack down against them.

But disgusted to see the flag of Hezbollah - an insult to thousands of Syrians killed as well as Lebanese who want political emancipation from sectarian, Islamist thugs.

It does nothing but harm the Palestinian cause.

Since 2011, the Assad regime used starvation as a weapon of war by besieging oppositional communities & trying to force them into submission. As a result, thousands died a painful and horrific death. The 'international community' did nothing.

The lack of accountability for such heinous crimes, means that Israel now feels it can act with impunity and people in Gaza are being pushed to the brink of famine.

"Never Again" must mean just that.

Israel is a terrorist state. Iran is a terrorist state.

Iran's practices in Syria bear similarity to Israel's in Palestine. Iran has massacred thousands of civilians and besieged and starved dissident communities in aid of the Assad regime. Iran is now occupying large parts of the country and is moving Shia settlers (from Iran, Lebanon, Iraq) into the homes of Sunni civilians it has forcibly displaced.

Freedom for Palestine! Freedom for Syria! May all oppressors and tyrannical regimes fall!

For the past month, people across northwest Syria have been protesting against HTS (an authoritarian Islamist militia powerful in the region) and it's leader Joulani.
Here, activists explain why:

Aljazeera releases footage of four men being targeted by Israeli drones last month in Khan Younis, Gaza.

They were civilians - walking to see their demolished home - killed in cold blood by the Israeli state

Aerial footage of four men walking down a bare earth street between buildings. They are then engulfed in smoke and flames as they are hit by a drone. Two manage to escape alive - they are then targeted again and go up in flames.

The men and women of Sweida, southern Syria, out on the streets today (as every day for the past six months) demanding the fall of the regime and a free Syria.

Men and women march through streets clapping, holding banners and the Druze flag.

A very courageous & high risk anti-regime protest last night in the town of Kanaker, rural Damascus.

This is an area which is firmly under the control of the regime & Iran.

It's very dark but you can see outline of people gathered and revolution flag. Someone speaks saying the date: 18 March 2024 They are singing a famous revolution song called 'Leave Bashar'

On 18 March, 3 years ago, I wrote this article, commemorating the anniversary of the Paris Commune and the anniversary of Syria's revolution which saw the establishment of self-organised, autonomous communities across the country as the regime was forced out.

Protesters are now gathering in front of Al Omari mosque in Deraa. This is where wide-spread protests against the regime began in 2011.

Some see 15 March as the anniversary of the Syrian revolution (first anti-regime protest due to police brutality in Damascus)

Others see 18 March as the anniversary, when large protests erupted in Deraa in 2011 (first protesters killed by regime) & soon spread around the country.

Thirteen years on and Syrians are still struggling for freedom.

The Access Centre for Human Rights reports that on 11 & 12 March, raids carried out by Lebanese army & intelligence, on Syrian refugee camps in the Beqaa Valley, Lebanon, resulted in many arrests and forced deportations.

Lebanon is increasing clamp down of refugees and forcible deportations.

Syria is not safe for refugee return.

Sign from yesterday's protest in Idlib says:
"Bringing down Assad is our first goal but that doesn't mean we should remain silent about the tyranny/injustice of Joulani"

Joulani is the leader of HTS, an authoritarian Islamist group that is powerful in northern Syria and has carried out many abuses against the population.

Bashar Al-Assad's uncle, Rifaat, to stand trial in Switzerland for war crimes and crimes against humanity carried out in Syrian city of Hama in the early 1980s. (Better late than never!)

Thousands of civilians were killed and much of the city razed to the ground by Hafez Al-Assad's air force following a rebellion in the city largely dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood.

This whole family has blood on their hands.

Another piece of shit American travel vlogger has visited Syria - on a visit that could only be facilitated by the regime (sometimes they are facilitated by french fascists from SOS Chrétiens d'Orient).

He vaguely mentions 'war and sanctions' as a problem as he glamorizes life there. (To his credit he does mention lack of political freedoms which I've not seen in such videos before).

Meanwhile millions of Syrians can never return home and parts of the country are being bombed daily.

A very shitty tourism video.

Yesterday 3 regions of Syria issued a joint declaration calling for unity in continuing the struggle for freedom & setting out common principles.

It calls for self-determination & rejection of external interference, non-sectarianism & a return to the model of “Tansiqqia” (Local Coordination Committees- horizontally organized revolution bodies)

It was issued on the anniversary of Syrian independence (March 8, 1920)

Here is an English translation of the text.
