The nanotexture iPad is definitely something people have diverse opinions about. Nate loved the look of it, and I know others who like it as well, but when I used it in person I instantly knew it wasn’t for me.

I would love a Mac Shortcut that turns keyboard backlight brightness to zero percent when you log off and back to 100 percent when you login - is this possible?

@tchaten I don’t think I understand exactly. The keyboard remains backlit for a few seconds after logging out, but turns off when the screen turns off moments later. You might be in a weird MacPad state I don’t understand 😅

Counterpoint, I just went through a bunch of posts and comments from people saying exactly this about how using the accessibility cursor on iPads “worked, but wasn’t great.”

I wish there was more imagination out there and so many people seemingly think Apple would make zero changes to macOS to make it better than VNCing into a remote Mac.

Really, this is just such an inbitious way to think about bringing macOS to new hardware. Try to scare the user away and then only let them use it when the iPad is in a traditional laptop form factor?

No, honestly this is the most Dell way to think about it, and I do mean that in the snarkiest way to Dell 🤭

I think I’m frustrated that it seems so clear that on an infinite timescale Apple will have a Mac that supports touch, it will be so much more ambitious a product than what is described by doubters today, and they’re going to say “this new touch Mac is great, and while some wanted Apple to glom touch onto normal laptops with little effort, they did this the Apple way and did it great.”

For the record, and as I’ve been writing for a long time, I want them to be ambitious.

M.G. riffed on this idea that if they can do provost’s sensing like they do on iPad screens, maybe the buttons could dynamically grow a little when your finger approached them.

I’m playing Xbox at the moment to play the new Hellblade and honestly the whole experience is trash compared to a PlayStation. The controller sucks, why are the buttons so noisy?! And it still uses an archaic rumble pack inside!

When you get an achievement it makes a really obnoxious noise over whatever is happening on screen taking you right out of being immersed, and the UI for this is smack bang in the middle of the screen covering up subtitles. 🤦

And just the general OS experience is very unpolished compared to PS.

If it makes you feel any better, the Epic Games Store achievements are shomehow larger, lower resolution, and have an audio cue that plays at 100% volume for some reason. Really aimed to killing the immersion in Alan Wake 2 for me 🤦🏻‍♂️
