I am considering PCB silkscreen fonts, because the usual font looks so… utilitarian.

Times New Roman?
Comic Sans?
Arial?

@jpm Wingdings.

Found a small fan in two parts that breaks into two ~40mm 6v fans. Thinking about using it/them for cooling my . It seems that it also has a third pin for speed control, which I need a motor controller for.

Might design a PCB motor driver HAT for it as a good starter project with / assembly, All I really need is a few motor controller IC's...I think. We'll have to see how this project goes.

In the meantime I might just order one of the 30mm raspi fans off of ebay for $5 while I design it, as the pi does seem to run a bit hot with a DE.

I wish there was a mobile version of Kicad or similar eda which I could use to doodle on projects on my phone at night and strode projects would could sync with a git repo say. Then I could just tinker about when I actually have ideas

mightyspaceman,
@mightyspaceman@aus.social avatar

@voided I mean, if you are willing to go down the hellhole of trying to install linux on a phone that isn't locked down for safety reasons/doesn't support software like that due to the different architecture

Around 40m off the coast that my school is situated on, there's been a bunch of action with a barge with an excavator on top. It's been picking up something from a container and dumping it into the sea off to the side - It's almost comical how the excavator causes the whole barge to sag to the left.

Apparently they're building an artificial reef - from what I heard, the material is something like oyster shells.

OK. These seem to look their best when they're heavily diffused and in a loop

I need a circular frame from the charity shop.

Like a clock. 🤔

@Archie8 Interesting. I have a duinotech ring like that (pretty much identical and uses the same libraries) and I've been wanting to do something with it. And now that I have a raspi, I might be able to integrate it into the IoT things that I am planning.

The pattern it forms on the inside is interesting...Maybe you should make a clock out of it?

And here a semi-regular reminder.

Antifa literally just means 'anti fascist'.

It's not a club.

And if you 'oppose' the idea of being against fascists then I shall call you by name...

You fucking fascist.

ArchARM on Raspberry Pi 4 is connected to the internet!

mightyspaceman, to random
@mightyspaceman@aus.social avatar

Heermmm....I was just watching a video on connecting to wifi on raspberrypi/archARM, and the person was showing the configuration of the file containing SSID/password

The password was blocked out, presumably using the inbuilt youtube tool, but for a second there I could actually see the text before it snapped back to black. I played it back and it was not there.

Could this be a vulnerability? if so it's in dire need of being patched...

Raspberry pi is succesfully running arch!

mightyspaceman,
@mightyspaceman@aus.social avatar

@Jakra Mmm. Admittedly, Arch isn't the best for server purposes, but I wanted to try this out to see how it went. I'm probably going to use the Pi for IoT things, but I was also planning a Cyberdeck build - something that kind of feels more 'complete' with Arch (although that's mostly just because of the neofetch ;)) so I wanted that flexibility

mightyspaceman,
@mightyspaceman@aus.social avatar

@Jakra I'll probably switch to debian...relatively quickly

panes are very helpful for running @kunanyicam

I can have one window for running the bot itself, one for the timelapse I just set up, and one for just general tasks - idk checking if it's actually saving files, things like that.

especially useful in an SSH situation like the one at hand, otherwise you would have to split your local terminal into seperate SSH sessions and aaaa...

mightyspaceman, to random
@mightyspaceman@aus.social avatar

Umm...So I went to fix @kunanyicam saying that the temp is 'none', and found out that it wasn't actually running anywhere on the server...but it was still operational for some reason...
