@otte_homan Mmm. I'm using one borrowed from a mentor at school that's part of some energy/power program we are doing in STEM class. By energy/power I mean energy conservation, power usage etc. - anything related to the grid. Not general electronics things per se, but it's a very vague project and we can really do anything that involves that kind of topic.

It's a D1 mini, fairly standard. I already have a board at home but I...ahem...stepped on it, and now the USB-micro connection is fairly unstable and only works some of the time. It's certainly fixable, but would require some SMD rework with a heatgun, which I have access to at my makerspace but haven't got around to it.

But I have a nodeMCU ESP8266 board en route from lonely binary, and the person said that we may possibly be able to keep some components after the project is over, so that's all sorted out.

Wow I just wrote a lot

@jpm C. It probably shouldn't have been that hard, it's basically arduino. In fact you can use the same arduino bootloader. I was just being stupid because VScode didn't have permission to access the serial port...

Is it normal for CPU's to make a small amount of noise? I have noticed that when I put my phone very close to my ear I can hear very quiet, high-pitched sounds...and when I was just feeling the tempurature of my raspi's processor, I noticed small vibrations

So apparently mirabella genio use an , which means you can actually flash them with your own custom firmware for easier integration into things like

Do you think a #RaspberryPi B 4GB is powerful enough to run Home Assistant, a #VPN server and have space for other (lightweight) things?

Been trying to get home automation working on my . Was originally going to try and make some of the stuff myself with python, but decided to try out .

It worked well...until I tried to get working. Now, full disclosure, I do not want to have to keep using Alexa - I mostly just use it as an alarm, for it's builtin segmented display that acts as a clock, and for playing podcasts. That's really it. And I've been wanting to go to an alternative (maybe even DIY) but you know...💵

Nor do I have anything against Home Assistant. I think it works amazing. However, to get Alexa working you need to PAY for a subscription to their cloud service to access the instance from away...and I just find that that kind of breaks the magic of being an and modular automation suite. And if I want to use it away from home I can just make a tunnel.

I guess I am going to have to find some other solution...

UPDATE apparently there is a way to run Google Home assistant on a Pi! And it integrates with Home Assistant! I'm going to give this a try and see how it goes.

For those wondering, ′′how did i do it?":
I boiled 10L of water, added 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate, two cups of coke, and half cup of lemon juice, then stirred well. Waited 3 minutes, put the pan in the solution for 45 minutes, then added a quarter cup of chlorine bleach to the mixture. Then I brushed it with a firm toothbrush and put it back into the liquid for another 25 minutes. I took it out, rinsed it, and it looked exactly the same, so I threw it away, and went and bought a new one.

Edit: Please don’t actually make this concoction! The resulting mixture may produce poisonous gases! This toot is a joke, the pictures are not even my pans. I didn’t throw any pans away. Following these directions, despite the fact it probably won’t do anything useful, would be fucking stupid and you may win a Darwin Award.

Interestingly, the helicopter uses to communicate and receive instructions from the rover and, by proxy Earth. This is the same protocol that is used mainly for IoT applications, like smart lights or switches.
