@kunsi Also bin da eben an einem Monitor vorbei gekommen und fand es ok. Bin mir nur nicht sicher ob man den leeren Platz links noch nutzen sollte und wie man die Farben am besten kommuniziert.

Heute ist der 8. Dezember 2023. Seit heute gilt auf den meisten Straßen von Amsterdam ein Speed-Limit von 30 km/h. Die Stadt verspricht sich davon ca. 20-30% weniger Verkehrstote und -verletzte, und eine Verbesserung der Lebensqualität.

Über 4000 Verkehrsschilder wurden angepaßt.

Die Begrenzung gilt auch für Fatbikes und Scooter, sowie S-Pedelec.

Die verbleibenden 50 km/h-Routen bekommen besondere Fahrbahnmarkierungen.

Wo habt ihr eigentlich so eure Matrix-Accounts? Ich bin so’n bisschen davon abgekommen, meinen eigenen hosten zu wollen, aber einfach auf matrix.org rumzuhängen sagt mir auch nicht so ganz zu.

Glaube, hoffe, ich hab endlich ein Tool gefunden, das halbwegs benutzbar macht. Buchstäblich Web-Client und Bouncer in einem, keine krummen Dependencies, kein archaischer irssi-bitchx-Terminalzirkus, weniger als eine Million Konfigurationsoptionen, machst im einen Browser nahtlos weiter, wo du im anderen aufgehört hast. Was fehlt, sind Push-Messages (ed: Unter iOS), aber die FOMO ist, was IRC angeht, nicht allzu stark in mir. 👉 https://thelounge.chat/

Y'all know I like to dump on US automotive lighting regulations. In general, they're poop.

BUT. There's one thing we require which the rest of the world bafflingly doesn't.

Side marker lamps!

I was shocked to learn that my Figaro is absolutely dark from the sides at night (save for its turn signal repeaters). That would not fly here AT ALL. There needs to be an amber light up front and a red light in back to indicate its position and orientation from the side at night.

@TechConnectify I have the feeling most European cars have their rear light designed in a way to fulfill that task and they nowadays only swap out the front ones (which makes sense since there are often more differences).
But I'm still not a huge fan of the markers on passenger cars, don't reeeeeally see the benefit at night, don't see cars that often from the side and wonder how big they are.
Trucks and trailers (depending on their size) have them here too, across their length (which is useful)

@TechConnectify I don't think more light is bad, but most (front and rear) lights also emit a bit to the side (in their respective) colour so I don't really see a need for a yellow side-marker when the already existing white light in the front emits enough light to the side to give a clue about the length of a car.
Still, wtf is a yellow (instead of white) front side-marker required but yellow turn signals aren't 🙈

@TechConnectify Aah, that makes sense.
Hmm reflectors, we only mandate them on the rear but that's basically it. Nothing on the side or the front (besides the reflective number plate).
I guess it's mainly because cars have to be parked on the right (so you see them from the back when approaching) and the houses are usually not spread far outside from villages?
Trailers on the other hand have to have reflectors on all 4 sides, even the smaller ones.

@TechConnectify @xabean oh wow, that's something I'd definitely miss if we didn't have it. Most cars seem to have them in their side mirrors now.

Wouldn't be mad if we used that bulb as a side marker light too, that would be roughly at 1/3 to 1/2 of the length of the car, so adding more information in-between, would be useful sometimes.

Do you host your own server? What are you using for it?

I’m looking for something that’s really low maintenance, and I probably don’t need project management, issue tracking, or pull requests. Maybe not even user management. It’s probably just me and my repos.

I know that I can just use SSH+Git on the remote side, but I maybe would like some kind of web interface. Maybe gitweb? But it’s Perl. Or cgit? Any other suggestions like these two?

Für ein Out of Band Projekt suche ich aktuell nach einer Hardware auf der man einfach ein Standart Linux werfen kann, die irgendwie SFP Ports hat, und mindestens 10 Ethernet Ports auf RJ45. hat, auf 1HE. Hat da jemand eine Idee? Gibt es da nicht so Geräte man geschickt durch 2 mal halbe breite kombinieren kann?
