Iโ€™m off to CCCamp next week for the first time, along with some of the @emf team. Who else is going to be there?

For those not in the know, Chaos Communication Camp is a hacker camp held near Berlin and organised by Chaos Computer Club, the German hacker association.

Full disclosure, I spent too much time this morning considering the possibility of building a node using a Broadcom PS225 Stingray DPU ($50 on ebay) to put a caching nginx proxy in the NIC in front of a sub-50Gbps PCIe bus to the actual CPU on the server with all the content.

It's a bad idea.

So sehr wie ich MySQL nicht mag, ist Galera einfach unfassbar gut. Es scheint einfach zu funktionieren, wenn eins ein Multi-Primary Datenbank Cluster haben will. Unter PostgreSQL ist das mit dem ganzen Replication Zeug echt anstrengend dagegen.

@clerie lustig, vor n paar Jahren hat n Kumpel genau anders herum geflucht. Der versucht mich schon seit Jahren zu postgres zu bewegen aber die Faulheit hat bisher gesiegt, mariadb/mysql funktioniert einfach (ohne Cluster derzeit)

    Ein TรœV-Siegel soll Vertrauen schaffen oder suggerieren. So auch bei der Bonify-App. "TรœV Saarland: Geprรผfter Datenschutz". Das wirft wirklich kein gutes Licht auf solche Siegel. Wir sollten dringend รผber die Aussagekraft bzw. die Prรผfkriterien diskutieren. So macht das absolut keinen Sinn. ๐Ÿ‘‡

    Ich haette nie WLED entdecken duerfen - jetzt ist der letzte HueStrip in der Bude raus, und ich hab viel mehr Regenbogen. Und noch 30m mehr Stripes kicher Nur bei den 5V-Netzteilen wirds langsam eng, da muss wohl wieder Geld auf Meanwell geworfen werden

    @leah @ekes komplett neutral formuliert wรคre es in meinen Augen nur wenn beides da stehen wรผrde. 2 wollten was, 2 waren dagegen, Bruch der Regierung. Sobald nur eine Aussage da steht impliziert das automatisch, das Verhalten ist falsch und entspricht nicht der gesellschaftlichen Norm. Die Aussage missfรคllt mir da bei der Tagesschau. Sie sollten neutral sein und keinesfalls solche Forderungen normalisieren.

    In you have to blink with a flashlight at your โ€œsmartโ€ meter to enter a PIN and mount an external 3rd party thingamading with external power instead of it simply using powerline, Bluetooth or wlan to make the data accessible. In case you wonder why we here are not really progressing.

    @jwildeboer when things were designed, smartphones weren't as wide spread as they are now. And since the meter will show more information in the display (last day, month, year...), it's usable by anyone with a torch. Which is basically everyone. Bluetooth or WiFi could be an option today, if we wouldn't be stuck with the newly smart meters (I hate them).

    @anderseknert I just had a hotel that did have checks in the slot. It only worked with the card for the room, nothing else. Pretty annoying, was a first for me.

    @scy @falk_ kann ich so bestรคtigen. Abstandstempomat auf "Minimum" sorgt dafรผr, dass weniger rein ziehen aber passiert trotzdem noch. Bei orgeschriebenem Abstand biste mehr am bremsen als am fahren ๐Ÿ’ฉ

    Ich finde, mit dieser Art Technik sollte man keine Betatests in der ร–ffentlichkeit machen.

    @kaffeeringe und das wird ja immer besser. Aka immer seltenere Eingriffe, die dann immer fataler enden, bis die Fahrzeuge es mal wirklich vollautonom schaffen, irgendwannn.

    @kaffeeringe seh ich genau so. Hatte vor vielen Jahren einen Vortrag von dem Entwicklungsleiter von Juniper Networks gesehen, der Vorhersage, dass die Level 4 Autonomie ziemlich tรถdlich werden wird. Dass Tesla das schon mit ihre. (Rรผcksichtslosen) Level 2 und wannabie Level 3 schafft hat mich einerseits negativ รผberrascht. Dann aber doch nicht wie man sieht welchen Musk und co in der Region haben. Bin vor allem verwundert, dass das KBA nix macht, nachdem bei Tesla eine "Panne" die nรคchste jagt.

    @kaffeeringe andere Hersteller und Zulieferer geben sich viel Mรผhe, machen viele Tests auf Privatgelรคnde und mit Testfahrern, verbauen Massen an Sensorik um jeweils kreuzweise Probleme zu eliminieren. Und Tesla verbaut immer weniger Sensorik, rollt Software Updates im yolo-stil auf Kunden aus und kommt damit sogar durch. Mir unbegreiflich auf welcher Rechtsgrundlage die ihre Zulassung bekommen und behalten kรถnnen.
