@siblingpastry as somebody brought this article up again recently https://www.tpgi.com/is-swiping-a-path-based-gesture/ ... not sure i'm quite with you on example 1. if the point of the map interaction is "i want to move my map to this point", and i as a user can use a variety of movements/ways to get there, then it's intrinsically not path-based?

random question, as i'm too lazy to research this properly ... but are there any nice bikes out there with the same design as these Eovolt ones (step-through, cargo bit over the backwheel) that are not electric? /cc @pete

fucking tired of the "why am I not getting 'Ask to Buy' authorization requests on my phone from my son's account even though I'm set up as the organizer of our family account", and the "why can't I be set up to just share purchases/payment for my son, and not also my wife?" bullshit burning hoops of fire that Apple put people through. again, coming to the conclusion that none of the engineers that worked on this have actual family/kids

would love to have a reliable way to just search through my own posts on @Mastodon ? so many times when I think "i'm sure i wrote something about this, now where is it?"

does search here allow for scoping/filtering (e.g. to say "just from this user")?

thanks to Bitmap Books I just discovered this and had a major nostalgia pang ... ended up buying a few prints https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BobWakelinArtwork (batman and hunchback did it for me)

moment of panic on the weekend, when i noticed that my ancient version of Lightroom (the last one from before 2017, when adobe made it "Lightroom Classic" and Creative Cloud leasing model only) wasn't able to import the new .cr3 raw files from my new Canon R8. thought i'd have to finally cave and go subscription model...

was idly browsing through (out of general interest) the french RGAA tests ... and this one struck me as odd: https://accessibilite.numerique.gouv.fr/methode/criteres-et-tests/#2.2 requires that the accessible name (in this case, of frames/iframes) be "pertinent"/appropriately descriptive ... and then hangs it off of WCAG 4.1.2. but that SC normatively doesn't say anything about whether the accessible name is good/bad/indifferent. seems to be stretching the definition /cc @access42

i've sold shit on ebay before, no problem. but something about selling camera equipment/lenses specifically seems to bring out the morons on that platform. case in point today: a rando offering me £300 for my £400 lens listing, then £350, and then sending me a "helpful" pass-agg message wondering what "best offer" i'm after since he can get that lens for £370 somewhere else. like...you do you, mate

random thought on all the AI shite at the moment: yes, it's all cool...but it comes down to the fact that AI per se cannot create anything original. it's just very good at mashing up anything that came before. if you're all in on just using AI, you're basically saying that you're cool with just stopping anything truly new/creative...we don't need anything new, we can now just rehash what came before. it's...certainly a take

log into german bank (with a special physical security device where you insert the bank card, then hold the device against the screen to scan some blinking light patterns), try to change my postal address after the move. can't do it myself, as it won't let me change addresses abroad. send them a message, no reply. try the chatbot, and it tells me to email a generic address. sure. get a reply "we need to verify you since you're abroad..." 1/

found myself flicking through some old paper copies of ".net magazine" (around 2010ish). good lord, what a time capsule of early fun web stuff, with lots of the usual suspects of the time (very young looking versions of @brucelawson, @chrisdavidmills, @alastc, @tink, @colly, @lornajane, @malarkey, and many more). that was back when, for a while, I was on the "advisory panel" for the mag (and occasionally contributed to accessibility and html5 related topics) ...
