Perfect snow day 😎

We were nervous at first because 50m below the slopes the snow ends(as in none at all).

Are there any good Technics sets that are not cars? The kid is not amused at this car obsession and neither am I …

Zürich wants to remove bike lanes and make roads more narrow, thereby slowing down cars so they can‘t overtake cyclists anymore.

How utterly stupid!

Just last week a car hit me from behind when I was standing at an intersection.

Days before a car overtook me so closely that my clothes were pulled towards it. I then rode in the middle of the road to prevent further close encounters, only to be overtaken by the next car who almost ran headways into an oncoming car. Etc.

Re: measurements shape behaviour.

Kid‘s class have to read books in school now and track pages per day. My kid started with a text-only book set in small letters. A classmate read many more pages in the same time, in a book with lots of images and set in large letters.

Obviously my kid now switched to those books as well – she liked the other stories, but it‘s really disheartening to fall behind in page count for her.

Why not just check in with each kid to see how they‘re doing?

Car bumped into me on my bike today, luckily only my fender was damaged.

Iwas wearing hi-vis vest and bright lights. Nothing more I could do except not bike or get proper infrastructure 🤷‍♂️

Switzerland is ridiculous: our Council of States suggests to prosecute individual journalists who publish data that has been illegally collected, e.g. through a whistleblower or the darknet.

This would mean that the only data they could report on would be data that has been published by an organisation. As if anyone would publish their own wrongdoings 🤦

✨ Open position ✨ We need to scale our online platform for teaching computer science to more schools and are looking for someone in / who can help us with this.

It’s a super family-friendly environment and a lovely team. Come join us? I’m happy to answer questions!

(It says it’s temporary, but so far we managed to extend every position to unlimited, because it’s really needed.)

Today’s the day: Happy first to me! 🥳

It was a real effort to build up this cozy new corner over here and I had to leave so many incredible people behind on good old Twitter, but it was so obvious already then that I could not be part of Musk’s vision. And oh my am I glad I left!

In this year I got to know a whole lot of new people and feel settled here: I love what you all put on my feed every day and I find the idea of super exciting. Good times ahead!

My friend had a bike accident: turns out his brakes were mounted in an unusual way where the right hand brakes the front wheel. Unlike every other bike I know – why would they do that?? 🤔

50 years ago today one of my all time favourite albums was released: Head Hunters.

I listened to this for hours as a child when I discovered it in my dad’s LP collection. And when I recently put it on for the 9yo to hear, we both danced as if there was no tomorrow.

Here’s to a visionary band and a time when it was a-ok when a song lasted for 10 or 15 minutes even. 🧡

This is a beautiful interaction design masterclass on mobile text editing by @scottjenson.

https://jenson.org/text/

  1. Follow your hunch that, even though no one complains too loudly, something could be improved
  2. Observe people to validate your hunch
  3. Describe the problem in detail to understand its nature
  4. Explore alternative solutions through experimentation and simplification using your detailed problem statement as guidance
  5. Create a prototype, test it, iterate, and share
