given that my vote in November is largely symbolic, I think I’m going to us it to symbolically express my disagreement with a Democratic president aiding and supporting a fascist regime while it carries out an ethnic cleansing. the WFK killings aren’t the worst thing Israel has done, by any means, but it’s the last straw. the IDF murdered aid workers, explicitly, deliberately, and in front of the world, and the Biden administration is like 🤷‍♂️ “send them more bombs.”

I can’t vote for that.

i have enough life experience to weigh 4yrs of Biden against 4yrs of Trump and vote for the former despite my horror at Israel's atrocities because I understand Trump would certainly be worse and perhaps a Biden administration can be swayed. however, lots of the 20-sometings Biden is depending on to win cannot do this simply because moral grays are harder to see when you're that age.

let's be clear: Trump Media is not a successful enterprise. it loses money, it has very little revenue, and it holds no significant assets (their software isn't even worth anything, Truth Social is just a fork of Mastodon). this is not a business, it will never be a business, it's purely a mechanism for clandestinely moving funds from one place to another, and i can't believe regulators even let it exist.

a normal thing would be for this stock to get a meme pop and then collapse into penny stock territory once anyone tries to take profit, because this is a company that doesn't do anything and has no plan for doing anything either. a huge red flag will be investors able to take profit without the price collapsing, that may mean some wealthy benefactor using the stock to pass funds to Trump or someone in his circle. let's see what happens.

look i know the joke is "let's see ol' Donny wriggle out of this one" but the walls are genuinely closing in on Trump. his campaign isn't raising enough money, he's gonna be defending himself in a criminal trial during a presidential election, lenders are now wary of him, and he's gutted the GOP machine. plus, his health is visibly deteriorating, ffs it's been eight years since the 2016 race (side note: oooof.).

he's financial, physically, and politically falling apart. it sucks that he's getting one last swing, and yeah, he could still hit a walk-off grand slam, but he did to the Republican Party what everyone warned he would do: it's in shambles, the GOP-led House is barely holding on to their majority because members keep quitting, and not only did they get punished in the midterms with a Democrat in the White House, they've gotten wrecked in just about every special election.

the only big picture thing that's bad for the Democrats right now is the Supreme Court and the federal judiciary, which imo is what people should really be worrying about if you want to worry about something. Trump is most likely going to lose in November and then die in bed in the midst of four criminal trials and embargoes on all his assets.

and then the entire media and political establishment is going to undertake a massive effort to gaslight the shit out of all of us into thinking the Trump thing was blip and the Republican Party is a normal party capable of normal things, not a bunch of incompetent smash-and-grab liars and racists, just like they did with George W. Bush, and that's the part that's going to drive me crazy.
